Scottish songwriters Justin Currie and Iain Harvie steer Del Amitri through their catalogue at The Gov

Scottish rock band Del Amitri play The Gov in Adelaide on Tuesday 2 February 2027 as part of Past to Present: Four Decades of Their Greatest Hits, presented by Destroy All Lines.
Del Amitri have been writing sharp, emotionally direct rock songs since forming in Glasgow in 1982, and next year they bring that catalogue to Adelaide. Past to Present: Four Decades of Their Greatest Hits lands at The Gov on Tuesday 2 February 2027, doors at 7pm.
The band's story is built around the songwriting partnership of Justin Currie and guitarist Iain Harvie, who steered Del Amitri through seven studio albums and more than six million record sales. Their breakthrough came with 1989's Waking Hours, home to 'Nothing Ever Happens' and 'Kiss This Thing Goodbye', two songs that established the band's knack for marrying pop hooks to lyrics with real bite.
The early '90s brought further crossover success. 'Always the Last to Know' cemented their reputation at home, while 'Roll to Me' became a genuine international hit, climbing to Number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. It's the kind of song that still gets a room singing along decades later, and it remains a fixture of the band's live sets.
Like many bands of their era, Del Amitri went through a lengthy hiatus in the 2000s before returning to the stage for reunion tours that sold out comfortably, proof that the audience for their songs never really went away. In 2021 they released Fatal Mistakes, their first new album in 18 years, and they're now recording a follow-up due later in 2027, meaning this tour arrives with fresh material on the horizon rather than purely as a nostalgia exercise.
For Adelaide audiences, the drawcard is straightforward: a band with a genuinely deep well of songs, still led by its original creative core, playing a venue suited to that kind of direct, no-frills rock delivery. The Gov has long been a good fit for touring acts with a strong back catalogue and a loyal following, and Del Amitri fit that description as well as anyone.
Tickets are $90.85 plus booking fee, with the show presented by Destroy All Lines. For anyone who grew up with Waking Hours or has worn out 'Roll to Me' over the years, this is a chance to hear those songs played by the people who wrote them, alongside whatever new material makes it into the set from the band's upcoming album.
