Lion Arts Factory is a live music venue hosting multiple genres of music including heavy metal, rock, goth, punk, electric, hip-hop and house. The venue has a capacity of 500 and opens until 5am on weekends. It occupies the ground floor, basement and mezzanine of the historic Lion Arts Centre.

Location

68 North Terrace, Adelaide SA 5000, situated on the corner of North Terrace and Morphett Street in Adelaide's West End.

History

The building was designed by architect Frank Counsell in 1906 for D. & J. Fowler Ltd as a factory. After lying vacant from mid-20th century, it was revived in the 1970s as office and performance space for the Adelaide Fringe Festival. It was known as the Living Arts Centre from about 1986 until 1992, when it was converted into the Lion Arts Centre. The current music venue, Lion Arts Factory, opened on 1 January 2019 under new management following a major renovation.

Good to know

The venue features the Coopers Green Room downstairs with chesterfield sofas. The main stage was extended to 13 metres and previously boarded windows were opened to let light into the red brick walls during the 2019 renovation.
