Za Górami

Alice Zawadzki, Fred Thomas and Misha Mullov-Abbado perform their critically acclaimed debut album Za Górami at UKARIA Cultural Centre on 10 October 2026, blending folk, chamber music, improvisation and jazz.

Za Górami is the critically acclaimed debut album from a trio of musicians bringing together diverse musical traditions. The album title translates from Polish as 'behind the mountains' but carries the sense of 'once upon a time', evoking the fairytale stories that inform the group's work. Alice Zawadzki (voice and violin), Fred Thomas (piano and drums) and Misha Mullov-Abbado (double bass) have forged a distinctive sound that fuses folk idioms with chamber music, improvisation and jazz in fluid musical forms.

The concert at UKARIA captures the trio's first recording project together. The musicians draw from a rich palette of influences collected during their travels: folk songs and traditions from Argentina, France, Venezuela, Poland and Sephardic culture. These pieces explore universal themes—the moon, mountains, rain, human nature and prophecies found in the natural world.

The performance runs approximately 2 hours with a 25-minute interval. Tickets are $80 for adults, $75 concession and $40 for under-40s. Pre-concert dining is available, with an antipasti platter (serving two) from $33. Bus transfers can also be arranged for the evening.
