Pianist Paul Lewis presents Program Two of his four-part Mozart+ series at UKARIA Cultural Centre on 17–18 October 2026, exploring Mozart's piano sonatas alongside works by Schubert, Chopin, and Beethoven.

Pianist Paul Lewis brings his Mozart+ project to UKARIA for two performances on 17–18 October 2026, following exceptional demand that prompted the addition of a second matinee. Lewis, internationally recognised for his acclaimed cycles of Beethoven and Schubert repertoire, shifts focus to Mozart's piano sonatas—works he argues have been unfairly characterised as lesser achievements compared to the piano concertos.

The program juxtaposes Mozart's sonatas with pieces by Schubert, Chopin, and others to illuminate connections across the piano repertoire. Lewis curates the concert to trace threads from Poulenc's transparency and humour, through the operatic worlds of Chopin and Weber, to Beethoven's dramatic language—all audible within Mozart's writing. The performance includes Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 17 in B flat and No. 13 in B flat, Schubert's Three Piano Pieces, and Chopin's Polonaise and two Nocturnes.

This is Program Two of a four-part series Lewis has devised for his 2026/2027 global season. In Australia, UKARIA presents Program Two in 2026 and Programs Three and Four in 2027 exclusively. The concert runs approximately 2 hours with a 25-minute interval featuring complimentary afternoon tea. Tickets are $80 (adult), $75 (concession), and $40 (under 40). Pre-concert light lunch is available for $17.
