Guitarist Carl Orr is curating a tribute to Miles Davis for the jazz legend's centenary year, performing at UKARIA Cultural Centre on 7 November 2026 at 7:30pm. The concert runs approximately 2 hours with a 25-minute interval.
Orr brings serious credentials to the project. In the 1980s he gigged in Sydney with Jackie Orszaczky and Miroslav Bukovsky before relocating to London in 1995 following a tour with Billy Cobham, the fusion drummer who appeared on pivotal Davis albums including Bitches Brew, Live–Evil and Jack Johnson. Orr served as guitarist for Cobham's 2017 residency at Ronnie Scott's in London and has performed alongside other Davis collaborators including George Duke, Bennie Maupin and Marcus Miller. His own multi-year residency at the iconic London venue exceeded 300 shows.
The concert moves chronologically through Davis's work before exploring the bandleader's influence on subsequent artists like Cobham and on Orr's own musical output. Orr is joined by Phil Slater (trumpet), Paul White (keys), Victor Rounds (bass) and John McDermott (drums). Tickets range from $40 (under 40s) to $80 (adults), with concessions at $75. Pre-concert dining includes an antipasti platter for two from $33.
