UKARIA presents György Kurtág's Kafka Fragments on 3 October 2026, featuring violinist Natsuko Yoshimoto and sopranos Rachel Fenlon and Siobhan Stagg in a rare live performance of this philosophical work.

György Kurtág's milestone 100th birthday prompted UKARIA to program Kafka Fragments, one of his most significant compositions from 1985/86. The work consists of forty short aphorisms that philosophically examine life and human experience. Violinist Natsuko Yoshimoto performs the virtuosic violin part, with soprano vocal lines shared between Rachel Fenlon and Siobhan Stagg.

The hour-long performance on 3 October 2026 at UKARIA Cultural Centre runs without interval. Due to the technical demands of the piece, live performances of Kafka Fragments remain uncommon. The concert explores contemporary music's role in expanding comfort zones and building tolerance through exposure to dissonance and unfamiliar musical language.

Following the performance, audiences are invited to a Q&A and dinner discussion with the artists to reflect on the work. Tickets are $75 for adults, $70 concession, and $35 for under-40s.
