Carcass carve up Lion Arts Factory with Brujeria's theatrical mayhem in September

Thursday 24 September 2026Lion Arts Factory

UK death metal veterans Carcass tour Australia and New Zealand with guests Brujeria, calling at Lion Arts Factory on September the 24th, 2026, as part of the "Putrefying Down Under" tour. Tickets go on sale May the 14th through moshtix.com.au.

Carcass have spent close to four decades carving up death metal and putting the pieces back together in ways nobody else thought to try. From gore-grind's early days to laying the groundwork for melodic death metal, the UK band's fingerprints are all over extreme metal's family tree. Their "Putrefying Down Under" tour brings that legacy to Australian and New Zealand stages this September and October, and Adelaide gets its turn at Lion Arts Factory on September the 24th.

Joining them is Brujeria, the masked antiheroes of death and grindcore who trade in border mythology, dark satire and a stage show built as much on theatre as it is on riffs. It's been nine years since Brujeria last toured Australia, so this is a rare chance to catch them in the flesh (or behind the balaclavas, as the case may be). Their brand of anarchic mayhem sits somewhere between horror film and street protest, and that unpredictability is part of the appeal.

The pairing makes sense. Carcass bring technical precision and decades of genre-defining songwriting, while Brujeria bring chaos and spectacle. Together they cover a lot of ground within extreme metal without ever feeling like a mismatched bill.

The full tour runs from September 22 in Perth through to October 2 in Auckland, taking in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Townsville along the way. Brujeria won't be on the Townsville or Auckland dates, so Adelaide fans get the full package, which is worth noting if you're weighing up which show to catch.

Tickets go on sale at 9am AEST on Thursday May 14. For the Adelaide show, along with Melbourne and Sydney, tickets are available through moshtix.com.au. Given Carcass's status among death metal's genuine originators and Brujeria's long absence from Australian stages, this is shaping up as one of the heavier drawcards on the local gig calendar for 2026. Lion Arts Factory has hosted its share of extreme metal over the years, and a bill like this one suits the room well.

For anyone who has followed either band across their respective histories, this is a chance to see two acts operating at the more theatrical, uncompromising end of death metal, in a venue built for exactly that kind of night.
