Just ahead of their Melbourne Style And Or Substance album launch The Ferguson Rogers Processhave release a dubbed out version of the most Disco leaning track on the record, “A Long Year”. The partnership of two of Australia’s most beloved figures, You Am I frontman Tim Rogers and leader/ guitarist of The Bamboos, Lance Ferguson have also locked in special guest Davey Lane as support for the show on Sat June 7th at Corner Hotel.
Debuting in the ARIA Vinyl and Australian Top 20 album charts on release in late 2024, Style And Or Substance presents that rare chemistry that can only occur when two of the country’s favourite artists are combined and then heated. The resulting compound charts new territory for both of its protagonists and entices us to a musical space where Disco discovers that it can get dirty, and Rock can find its groove. It’s glamour meeting grit. It’s the movie star meeting the hustler. It’s discovering that there’s glitter in the gutter. It’s the new and revelatory combination of Tim Rogers’ wry lyrics and Lance Ferguson’s innate sense of groove.
Following on from his recent remix of their first ever teaming up, “I Got Burned”, Lance Ferguson has twisted, teased-out and royally reverberated the ‘Space & Time Dub’ out of FRP album track “A Long Year” in a way that recalls prime ‘early ‘80s downtown NYC when superstar Rock bands would invite finger on the pulse dance producers to rework their tracks to be released on “Extended Play” twelve inch singles to get spun at the basement nightclubs that they’d frequent.
Very special guest Davey Lane is known to many as the guitarist in You Am I and recently lead the Australian band for the tour of the legendary Todd Rundgren. But his own music is garnering more and more love and acclaim. “As you may or may not know, I’m a big fan of both the Ferguson and Rogers sides of the Process coin, so it’s an honour and a thrill to be asked to support as they drop their collective coin into this wondrous jukebox of their own creation and launch their amazing new LP into the world. I’ll be bringing my brand of groove based pop ‘n rock to kick off proceedings, playing a few old tunes and previewing some new ones from my forthcoming LP, Finally, A Party Record. Let’s ‘ave it!”
