The new album Sex Ed out August 22 via ABC Music
Ahead of their eagerly anticipated second album Sex Ed out August 22 via ABC Music, Melbourne’s self-professed “bogan funk” outfit Playlunch have today announced a national tour in celebration of the record.

The run of shows will see the rapidly rising seven-piece bring their joyful, cheeky, and undeniably funky live show to venues across the country this September, playing their biggest headline shows to date in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, and Sydney, before bringing it home to Melbourne.
“We’re so pumped to celebrate this new album we’ve worked crazy hard on for the past year,” say Playlunch. “It’s absolutely bananas to us how much love, support and dedication our fans continue to give us, and this tour is a celebration of our commitment back to you guys. We’re going to bring it.
“These shows will not only be in these crazy surreal venues, but will also be the biggest Playlunch show you’ll have ever seen – packed full of surprises and with the best production value we can possibly cram into the shows. We’ll be playing a whole heap of these new tracks live for the very first time (can’t wait to show you!), as well as all the favs from our debut album.”
Joining Playlunch on tour is Brisbane-based duo JUNO, who have been making waves in the Australian live circuit with their irresistible blend of alt-pop.
“We’re so excited to be having the insanely talented JUNO along for the whole tour with us. We first met them at BIGSOUND in Brisbane last year and couldn’t have been more impressed with their show. Everyone is in for an absolute treat, with a night of nonstop dancing and singing across the whole lineups!”
The tour announcement follows the band’s instantly viral and hilariously chaotic ode to that neighbour – ‘Keith’. With a music video starring AFL’s Barry Hall, and a pledge to make Keith the male Karen equivalent in Aussie vernacular, Playlunch’s newest drop clocked 100k streams and over 120k views in its first week, as well as a triple j rotation add, an influx of 5 star Unearthed reviews, and a spread of coverage ranging from music press to mainstream media. The track also landed in the ARIA charts and saw their debut album Who’s Ready For A Good Time? re-enter the charts.
With an infectious catalogue of genre-blending tracks covering nostalgic and distinctly Aussie themes like school athletics days, Blue Light Discos, and the peculiar world of daytime TV on a sick day, Playlunch’s upcoming tour promises audiences a sense of euphoric escapism and unabashed joy. Pack your schoolbags and grab your Yu-Gi-Oh! cards for childhood nostalgia’s night of nights, coming to a city near you.

About Playlunch
Forged in a share house home-studio somewhere in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs over two years of lockdown, Playlunch is the brainchild and passion project of Liam Bell. Creating a cocktail of late 90s and early 2000s Aussie nostalgia, and taking inspiration from retro dance music icons, Playlunch is pioneering a new flavour of bangers altogether: ‘Bogan Funk’.
Since their debut in April 2022, Playlunch have exploded at a rapid rate across both the Melbourne music scene, nationally, and internationally. Releasing their debut album in November 2023 titled Who’s Ready For A Good Time?, Playlunch have soared to new heights with viral Tik Tok videos, high rotation triple j play and massive sell out shows across the country (including a 550 person attended launch show at Fitzroy’s iconic, The Night Cat). Putting a huge focus on touring and bringing their comedic, yet serious live show to the people, the band have become a staple across the Australian Festival circuit with slots at NYE on the Hill (VIC), St Kilda Festival (VIC), Offbeat Music Festival (QLD), Good Gumnuts Festival (TAS), Party in the Paddock (TAS) and many more under their belts.
In a world where the current economy is hurting the climate of the Australian music industry, Playlunch are paving a way forward, unwavered, due to their rabid and extremely supportive fanbase. Showcasing at BIGSOUND 2024, the band has generated a massive following all over the country and are now one of the hottest emerging acts on the scene as they charge ahead to releasing their sophomore album in 2025.
