Shorebreak by Chris Pitman Coming Soon

A gutsy and raw performance that will stay with you long after you leave the theatre.

Chris Pitman has frequented State Theatre Company South Australia stages for many years, most recently in the critically acclaimed THE DICTIONARY OF LOST WORDS.

State Theatre Company South Australia are extremely proud to be supporting Brink Productions, SHORE BREAK – Pitman’s debut play in which he also stars, as part of our 2024 Stateside season, along with Adelaide Festival Centre.

3-7 September 2024 – Space Theatre / Adelaide Festival Centre

SHORE BREAK received 5-star reviews and standing ovations for its initial 2023 showcase season:

★★★★★ “The performance and script by Chris Pitman are a tour de force, and the standing ovation well-deserved after this marathon of a monologue. The direction by Chelsea Griffith is subtle and uncluttered. A compelling and quintessentially Australian theatre piece with universal appeal, this powerful play is an important addition to our understanding of ourselves and our own contribution to this world.” The Clothesline

“Shore Break is a beautifully crafted, poignant and a thought-provoking piece of theatre that showcases Pitman’s storytelling power. I implore you, do not miss it.” Lia Loves

“It is with utter conviction that I urge you to see this work.” Stage Whispers

Poetic, gut-wrenching, and electric,SHORE BREAK is a meditative solo theatre work about an isolated man looking to the ocean for answers. A patch work of story-telling, poetry, and haunting performance, this new monodrama from one of Adelaide’s most esteemed performers is a touching theatrical experience.

Simple and raw, addressing the search for human connection and meaning, in a life filled with rejection and regret, SHORE BREAK elegantly depicts the vulnerability of masculinity through a tour de force performance, sharp writing, and an emotional sucker-punch you won’t see coming.

SHORE BREAK is presented by Brink Productions in association with Adelaide Festival Centre and as part of State Theatre Company South Australia’s 2024 STATESIDE program.
