Kimberley Jenkins is a photographer who loves capturing everything from wildlife to sports & other entertainment.

 

She got into photography when she was 12 yrs old and then took a break from it for awhile then started again in 2014 and hasn’t looked back.

 

Can you share a bit about your background and what brought you to Adelaide?

 

I was born in Queen Victoria Maternity Hospital and grew up loving to dance to music. Loving looking at nature & many other things I was & still am interested in.

 

What are your interests outside of reviewing arts and entertainment?

 

I like spending time at the beach. Taking photos of the waves of the water including shells and unique patterns in the sand and the boats

 

What’s your favourite thing about living in Adelaide?

 

There’s always something to discover about SA.

 

Do you have a personal mantra or philosophy that guides your work?

 

Live in the moment, laugh each day. And love those around you because there is always one person who could do with a chat.

 

Who or what inspires you most in life?

 

I get inspired by places that

I’ve not visited before which makes me want to pull out the camera to promote the business.

 

What’s a surprising or fun fact about you that not many people know?

 

I like making a difference whether it’s helping a child who might have hurt themselves

falling over or a creature that might have been hit by car taking to vet.

 

What’s your ideal way to spend a weekend in Adelaide?

 

Having a great pub meal

Then a nice road trip

maybe even a hotel stay in

 

If you could only recommend one place to visit in Adelaide, what would it be?

 

Seppeltsfield Wines in Barossa Valley South Australia.

 

What’s a favourite book, movie, or song that resonates with you?

 

Xanadu

 

What advice would you give to someone looking to explore arts and entertainment in Adelaide?

 

To visit the Adelaide museum, Hahndorf for Devonshire tea &

Glen Ewin Estate Adelaide

What inspired your passion for arts and entertainment in Adelaide?

 

When Covid came around

& the population numbers was still quiet in the areas of entertainment I thought what could I do to support the artist around Adelaide knowing how much heart they put into these shows. Then I asked a few artists how’s sales response yeah slow mate thanks so I said leave it with me I do photography I’ll help you.

 

What’s your favourite event or venue in Adelaide?

 

Big day out Adelaide.

 

How do you approach reviewing local arts and entertainment?

 

I sit and watch reactions of the crowd then talking to the artists

It’s great to get all the different feedback and gives me ideas

on new greater promotions.

 

What’s been your most memorable arts experience in Adelaide so far?

 

Adelaide zombie walk

 

Do you have a specific focus area, like music, theatre, visual arts, or festivals?

 

There isn’t a specific area. I wanna support all these areas.

 

What’s one underrated event or artist in Adelaide you think deserves more attention?

 

Bay to Birdwood.

 

How do you stay connected with the local creative community?

 

Social media marketing.

 

If you could interview any artist or performer, who would it be and why?

  

Artist/actor Michael beck known as Sonny Malone in Xanadu (1980)

Because it was one of my favourite movies and I believe his response would be interesting

 

Performers /magicians

Dan Sperry or Aaron Crow, because I love magic and think I’d get some great reactions from fans.

 

What’s your go-to spot in Adelaide for creative inspiration or relaxation?

 

The Adelaide city to explore

the different options.

 

How do you see the arts and entertainment scene evolving in Adelaide over the next few years?

 

I think Adelaide can only keep improving its festivals I think we should bring back a lot of things such as the big day out Adelaide
