Tandanya
Tandanya is an art museum and performance space that specialises in promoting Indigenous Australian art, including visual art, music, and storytelling. It is the oldest Aboriginal-owned and -run cultural centre in Australia. The centre hosts exhibitions, performing arts events, theatre performances, and has been used as a venue for Adelaide Fringe performances.

History
Tandanya opened in 1989 as the oldest Aboriginal-owned and -run cultural centre in Australia. The building dates from 1901 and was extensively modified and rebuilt in 1912-13 with a Palladian-style facade. It was heritage-listed on the SA Heritage Register in November 1984. The centre has been closed for building repairs since May 2023 and is due to reopen in February 2026.
Good to know
The centre includes an Indigenous infused café and a Gallery Shop retailing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artworks. The building has been closed since May 2023 for repairs and refurbishment and is due to reopen in February 2026.
