MG Live and Frontier Touring are excited to announce Melbourne based artist Robert Baxter will join US pop provocateur Ashnikko on her SMOOCHIES TOUR across Australia and New Zealand kicking off next month!

Born from the desire to represent their community visually and sonically, Robert Baxter is a definitive force in Naarm/Melbourne’s vibrant music scene. A true multi-hyphenate artist, Robert’s journey began by producing beats in their rural hometown before evolving into the dynamic songwriter, producer, DJ, model, and popstar we know today. Blending their signature pop/club sound with emotive lyrics, and drawing on a rich background in dance, modelling, and theatre, Robert crafts immersive, unpredictable live shows that have cemented them as one of Australia’s most exciting emerging acts.

The SMOOCHIES TOUR kicks off in New Zealand on Wednesday 16 September in Auckland before heading to Australia for shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and winding up in Perth on Tuesday 29 September.

More about Robert Baxter

Robert’s sophomore EP, STARGIRL, featuring standout singles ‘SUSPICIOUS’ and ‘CAMBOY’, earned national attention, gaining praise from Rolling Stoneand triple j, a Wild Ones feature on ABC’s rage, and a cover feature in The Music. The next era was spearheaded by the online explosion of the viral single ‘ICY (TAKE IT OFF)’. Robert quickly followed up with ‘MUSIC 2 MY EARS’ and ‘KITTY CAT’ while gearing up for their highly anticipated next EP release. This boundary-pushing music and distinct pop sensibility has drawn sharp comparisons to Charli XCX, XLOV, and Pinkpantheress.

Equally commanding on the stage, Robert has headlined two sold-out headline shows and brought their high-energy performance to major festival lineups, including Night Mass at Dark Mofo, Ability Fest, Midsumma, Moomba, Victoria’s Pride, and the Brunswick Music Festival. On the touring circuit, they have supported powerhouse acts including G Flip, Blusher, DEVAURA, and Charley.

From walking runways in Melbourne Fashion Week and modelling for Nike, Grazia Malaysia, and L'Officiel Philippines, to starring in a short film by Arts Centre Melbourne, Robert’s multidisciplinary artistry extends seamlessly into global fashion and nightlife culture. Deeply rooted in Australia’s Ballroom Scene as a member of the House of Silky, Robert channels that same radical energy into the nightlife space and the greater Australian media. With their futurepop vision, Robert Baxter continues to champion queer POC representation, rewriting the blueprint for the modern Australian pop star.

October 2025 saw pop disruptor Ashnikko release her second album, Smoochies (via Warner Music Australia, here)her most personal body of work to date. An explosion of maximalist pop with club, country and hip-hop inflections, Smoochies finds Ashnikko fully stepping into the commanding-but-hyper-cute persona she created for herself as a teenager. The sophomore album Smoochies features the playfully defiant single ‘Sticky Fingers’; Ashnikko at her most audacious, blending playful bravado with unapologetic self-assurance plus ‘Skin Cleared’, ‘Trinkets’, ‘Itty Bitty’, ‘Smoochie Girl’ and ‘Wet Like (feat. COBRAH)’.

The album Smoochies, follows 2023’s debut WEEDKILLER, which featured the hits ‘You Make Me Sick’, ‘Worms’, ‘Cheerleader’, ‘WEEDKILLER’ and ‘Possession of a Weapon’.
