Alex James: Off the back of sold out shows in the UK, Mellen Events is thrilled to announce Blur’s Alex James will be taking his Britpop Classical tour to Australia. The shows will bring the biggest hits of the Britpop era to life with the epic scale of a full live orchestra.
This will be led by Blur’s, Alex James, with cameos from some very special guests and this unique concert reimagines the songs that defined a generation, delivering an electrifying blend of melodies and stunning classical arrangements.
This one-of-a-kind live experience will open at The Star, Gold Coast before heading to Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney & Perth. Tickets go on general sale Friday 24th April at 11.00am, following a series of pre-sales earlier that week.
Created and performed by Blur bassist, the show takes the best songs from a golden age of British music: classic tunes from Blur, Oasis and Pulp to Supergrass and The Verve, and performs them in a powerful symphonic format with a live band / guest vocalists alongside local orchestras.
“Somehow all of these songs mean more to people now than they did when they were first released,” says Alex. “Bringing them back to life with a symphony orchestra, a kick-ass band, some old friends and very special guests have been brilliant – and I absolutely cannot wait to get this show to Australian audiences.”
