The Offspring – SUPERCHARGED WORLDWIDE IN ’25
Punk rock royalty descended on Adelaide on Sunday night with a double bill for the ages with The Offspring and Montreal Canadian natives Simple Plan.
With the Entertainment Centre’s Arena full to the rafters and a sense of anticipation and fun in the air this was the perfect way for The Offspring to open the Australian leg of the SUPERCHARGED WORLDWIDE IN ’25 tour.
Combining forces with two of the biggest back catalogues in punk rock/ pop this was always going to be a match made in musical heaven.
Anthems Made for The Arena
Both bands stage shows were born for the arena with their timeless anthems connecting with fans in this sold-out show.
Rarely do acts evoke such reactions in massive venues, but on this occasion both The Offspring and Simple Plan hit it out of the park.
Every moment was a united sing-along and a journey with two bands who have held their position as legendary for almost three decades.
The energy was amped up with both acts firing on all cylinders.
Simple Plan: Perfect Pop Punk
A headliner in every sense, Simple Plan gave Adelaide a masterclass in pop punk delivering a set of hits that defined generations.
Fronted by the hugely charismatic Pierre Bouvier, the band had Adelaide completely mesmerised.
With a high-energy and infectious stage presence the set spoke for itself.
I’m Just a Kid, Addicted, Shut Up!, Jump, Welcome to My Life and show closer Perfect drew a response so epic that it hard to believe this was not the main event.
Complete with a headline worthy production, Simple Plan set the scene brilliantly for The Offspring and left a lasting impression that will likely see them return to the arena again in no time.
The Offspring: Legendary Supercharged Punk Rock
An Offspring concert is an occasion, and the theatrics begin before the band hit the stage with an interactive fan experience, complete with a kiss cam, trivia and even an Offspring blimp.
By the time the band take the stage the crowd are warmed up and ready for one of the greatest punk rock bands of all time.
Wasting no time and keeping the energy levels high, the band launched into a set defined by classics including All I Want, Come Out and Play, Want You Bad, Bad Habit, Gotta Get Away and took us back to 1998 with Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) and Why Don’t You Get A Job.
A piano rendition of Gone Away produced a special and intimate moment while the perfectly paired encore of You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid and Self Esteem sounded as a relevant today as it did two decades ago.
While the years have passed, the band has a freshness that has captured a new generation of fans and kept the band’s fanbase coming back. The audience is a mix of those who have grown up with the band and those who have discovered The Offspring in recent times.
At the heart of The Offspring is frontman Dexter Holland and guitarist Noodles, but the current line-up of bass guitarist Todd Morse, guitarist Jonah Nimory and new drummer Brandon Pertzborn is an exciting new era for the band.
Five Star Show
Punk rock royalty delivered the goods for SUPERCHARGED WORLDWIDE IN ’25.
Simple Plan and The Offspring will always have a place in Adelaide and from these performances it is evident that both bands will be welcomed back with open arms.
For now, this tour is a reminder of the power of great line-ups and testament to the longevity and spirit of two bands who just keep evolving and rocking as the years go by.
