HEAD ON, THE NEW SINGLE FROM GRACE MITCHELL’S FORTHCOMING ALBUM DAUGHTER OF THE KING, IS OUT NOW VIA CHEERSQUAD RECORDS AND TAPES.
Grace Mitchell returns today with Head On, the second single from the Melbourne-based singer-songwriter’s upcoming solo debut album, Daughter of The King.
Written by Mitchell and originally released with her former band Emotion Picture a few years ago, Head On (2026) is a fresh take on the 90’s-inspired grungy track.

Described by Grace as “a hypnotic, driving anthem about having the tragic and deflating realization that no matter how you try to smash the puzzle pieces of a relationship together, they just won’t fit. Timing, miscommunication, and eventually distrust have you wishing that you could address it all Head On, but even if you do, the stains will never come out and the slate will never be truly clean.”
Head On follows the release of the album’s lead single, the indie-rock anthem Destroy, which has recently been added to high rotation across Australia on Double J. Together, the two tracks offer a compelling preview of the forthcoming new album, showcasing Mitchell’s blend of 90s-inspired songwriting and alternative rock influences.
Fans can expect to hear more from Grace Mitchell soon. In the meantime, Melbourne audiences can preview the upcoming album during her May residency over the next two weeks at the Merri Creek Tavern, where she will perform with her full band. Don’t miss!

ABOUT GRACE MITCHELL
Australian-born, American-raised singer-songwriter Grace Mitchell began writing the first songs for the album five years ago in Hollywood. After returning to Australia three years ago, the multi-instrumentalist – who plays keyboards, bass, and guitars – recorded and added the final touches to Daughter of The King last year at Melbourne’s Lily Street Studios.
While this is her first full-length album, Mitchell has been making music for over a decade. After her breakout moment covering the Hall & Oates song “Maneater” for the soundtrack of the major motion picture ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’, she released her first EP, Raceday, featuring the track “Jitter“, which was praised by BBC Radio 1 host Zane Lowe as “possibly the song of the year so far.” A string of singles followed, along with performances at major festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo, and support slots with the likes of The Weeknd, MØ, MUNA, Tove Lo, St.Lucia, Joywave, and more…
