Legendary Bossa Nova Singer Lisa Ono Announces 35 Anniversary Australian Tour

Internationally renowned Japanese-Brazilian singer Lisa Ono will celebrate 35 years as the queen of bossa nova with exclusive concerts in Sydney and Adelaide as part of her 35th anniversary World Tour.

Regarded as one of the true stars of her genre, Lisa has earned a global reputation and has bolstered the appeal of bossa nova in Japan where she holds a determined position in the jazz community.

Celebrated for her breathtaking vocals, rhythmic guitar and charming smile Lisa said she is pleased to celebrate 35 years of music making with Australian audiences where she feels a special connection.

“It took me quite some time to finally make it to Australia where I first performed as part my 30th anniversary tour. Since that tour I have been fortunate enough to return several times and create a deep connection with the country. I am so excited for Australia to be part of these 35th anniversary celebrations in June”, Lisa said.

The tour will see Lisa build on her Australian connection where audiences have been captivated by the soulful singers rousing live performances.

This tour, which has been met with critical acclaim and much fanfare will see Lisa and her band performing all her greatest hits spanning more than 30 albums. The concert will present a plethora of classics, including Que Sera Sera, Moon River, When You Wish Upon A Star and Besame Mucho.

The Australian leg of the 35th anniversary tour, presented by Harmonie International marks an opportunity for Sydney and Adelaide audiences to spend a memorable evening with Lisa as part of the global celebrations for her prolific career. According to Harmonie International Director, Vian Lin these shows will be the only opportunity for Australian fans to see this special tour. “It’s such a pleasure to be able to bring Lisa back to Australia for two concerts as part of her World Tour. Audiences will be able to see an artist at the height of her career”, she said.

Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil where she lived until she was ten when her family moved to Tokyo, Lisa’s musical journey began at the age of 15 when she started singing and playing the guitar.

Lisa rose to fame following the release of her album Dream (1999), which sold more than 200,000 copies in Japan, solidifying her place within the Japanese Bossa Nova community. Lisa has since performed alongside iconic musicians such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joao Donato and more.
