Jane and Jimmy Barnes have once again invited us to join them at their kitchen table with Seasons Where the River Bends, the eagerly awaited follow-up to their bestselling cookbook Where the River Bends, which will be in stores from Tuesday, 28 October through Harper Collins Australia.
Inspired by the vibrant produce from their cherished Southern Highlands garden, this new volume features more than 60 recipes, sumptuous photography and more stories from Jimmy and Jane that celebrate seasonal cooking, family and entertaining.

From comforting Scottish classics to traditional Thai favourites and a Mexican feast, Seasons Where the River Bends features recipes such as Southern Highlands Cullen Skink, Teddy’s Favourite Garden Greens Pasta, Silken Tofu with Soy and Ginger, Vegetable and Chickpea Tagine, Massaman Beef Cheek Curry, Old-fashioned Lemon Delicious, Jane’s Classic Chocolate-chip Cookies, Winter Mixed Berry Cobbler, Fig and Feijoa Jam, and many more. This is seasonal home cooking, Barnes style.
Jane Barnes said, “Love your garden and it will nourish both your body and your soul. With gifts of herbs and honey, fruit, flowers and organic seasonal vegetables, our giving garden makes sure that our hearts and tables are always full.”
Jimmy added, “I loved making this cookbook because it has captured the beauty of our home over a whole year. It not only shows a representation of the love and care that goes into growing a garden like this, but also shows the love we share as a family. And even though we spend a lot of time travelling and working, it reminds me that home really is where our hearts are.”

Jane and Jimmy’s first cookbook collaboration, Where the River Bends, published in 2021, was the fifth best-selling Australian-authored cookbook of the year. Across its hardback and paperback editions, it has sold a combined 35k copies. In its release week, (the week ending 6 November 2021) it was the Australian book market’s top-selling cookbook, selling more than twice as many copies as the next highest-selling title.
Jimmy’s first memoir, Working Class Boy, ranks as the seventh highest-selling Australian-authored autobiography or biography since BookScan Australia records began in December 2002. In the Arts Autobiographies and Biographies category, Jimmy Barnes is the top-selling author by volume. Across the broader Biographies and Autobiographies category, he is the highest-selling Australian author and second overall, following Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat Pray Love (Bloomsbury).
Jane and Jimmy Barnes have spent over forty years together, sharing a life of music, cooking and travel and raising their family. During that time, Jimmy has become one of the most successful artists in Australian music history, selling more records locally than any other rock ‘n’ roll artist and scoring twenty two #1 albums.
Seasons Where the River Bends is available from all good bookshops on 28 October 2025 through HarperCollins Australia.
