Holden Street Theatres has launched HST LIVE, an ongoing live music series featuring established and emerging artists across multiple genres throughout the year. The intimate venue at 34 Holden Street, Hindmarsh will operate the series as a year-round platform for performers and audiences, with upcoming artists and dates to be announced progressively.
Holden Street Theatres is turning up the volume with the launch of HST LIVE, a new ongoing live music experience bringing artists, audiences and great nights out together at one of Adelaide’s most loved independent arts venues.
Best known as a home for bold theatre, independent performance and internationally recognised, Holden Street Theatres is expanding the rhythm of its year-round program with HST LIVE - an ongoing series dedicated to live music, local talent, interstate wonder and the electric connection that happens when artists and audiences share the same room.
HST LIVE will transform Holden Street Theatres into a destination for intimate, energetic and memorable gigs, showcasing a diverse mix of established performers, emerging artists, original musicians and bands across a range of genres.
The concept is simple: great artists, live music, a bar, a brilliant room and an audience ready for a good night out.
Rather than being locked into a traditional festival or short season, HST LIVE will roll out across the year, creating more opportunities for musicians to perform and giving Adelaide audiences another reason to head to Holden Street.
“HST LIVE is about creating that feeling you only get from live music - being in the room, discovering an artist, hearing something unexpected and sharing the experience with everyone around you,” says HST Live co-curator Markus Hamence.
“We want this to feel accessible, relaxed and exciting. Come for an artist you already know, come because you’re curious, or simply come because you love live music. HST LIVE is about building a community around artists, audiences and the pure joy of a live gig.”
The new initiative also builds on Holden Street Theatres’ long-standing commitment to independent artists and creative development, extending that support further into Adelaide’s music scene and providing another platform for performers to connect with new audiences.
With its intimate spaces, distinctive character and reputation for championing independent creativity, Holden Street Theatres provides the perfect backdrop for a live music experience where the performer isn’t a distant figure on a massive stage - they’re right there in the room with you.
Holden Street Theatres’ Martha Lott says HST LIVE is a natural evolution for a venue that has always been driven by artists, audiences and the power of live performance.
“Holden Street has always been about giving artists a place to create, take risks and connect with audiences. HST LIVE takes that same spirit and turns the volume up, opening our doors to even more of Adelaide’s incredible creative community,” says Lott.
“There’s something wonderfully immediate about live music. You can’t recreate the energy of an artist and an audience experiencing that moment together. We want HST LIVE to become a place where people discover new music, reconnect with artists they love and know they’re going to have a great night at Holden Street,” she says.
HST LIVE isn’t about one night.
