This timeless, captivating story is brought to life in this glorious musical filled with personal discovery, heartache, hope and everlasting love. Little Women: The Broadway Musical has a script by Allan Knee, music by Jason Howland, and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein. Little Women is licensed exclusively by Music Theatre International (Australasia), with all authorised performance materials also supplied by MTI (Australasia).

Based on Louisa May Alcott’s life, Little Women follows the adventures of sisters Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested – her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her that she has to do better and write more from herself. Begrudgingly taking this advice, Jo weaves the story of herself and her sisters and their experience growing up in Civil War America.

Co-Director Vanessa Redmond says:

“Tammy Shields, my Co-Director, and I both wanted to do a show that was led by women for this season, as well as one that was based on a book. I have always loved this show, and I have a personal connection as it was the first musical I was ever asked to choreograph, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

“I hope audiences love the March family as much as I do. Each of the women is so strong in their own way, and sets such a wonderful example. I also love the friendships that are present in this show and will always love the enduring friendship of Jo and Laurie, as well as the special relationships of other characters.”

Co-Director Tammy Shields says:

“The warmth and love that shines from the March house is so special. Even during times of loss, the family all gather around each other to show love and support. It is a very heartwarming thing to watch on repeat at rehearsals.

“The cast is absolutely amazing! The March sisters are sisters on stage and off – it was so beautiful to see that after the first run we did of Act 1, the four march sisters all ran to each other to have a big group hug and tell each other how well they all did. It was very sweet. There is a great sense of camaraderie in the cast amongst everyone.”

Featuring a brilliant cast of Adelaide’s talented musical theatre performers and a stunning live orchestra, the Stirling Community Theatre will come alive with Louisa May Alcott’s iconic characters and a moving score.
