Australian genre-bending band Windwaker will tour Australia in October/November with their new album 'smile, you're on camera', bringing US act The Pretty Wild to Australia for the first time alongside RinRin and DREGG.
Windwaker are bringing their new album 'smile, you're on camera' to Australian stages in October and November, with the tour launching a week after the record's release. Described as their most honest work yet, the album channels the band's journey through the challenges and triumphs of recent years since their previous release HYPERVIOLENCE. The band has already teased material with singles 'victory lap' and 'click' (featuring RinRin), with the latest single 'closer' showcasing a co-write with producer Daniel Braunstein (known for work with Spiritbox and Dayseeker). The track opens with neon synth flourishes and hypnotic drums before building to a power-chord driven chorus and signature Windwaker breakdown.
The tour brings a strong supporting lineup to Australian venues. Las Vegas sisters The Pretty Wild make their Australian debut, bringing a genre-blending mix of metal, hard rock and electronics that explores themes of industry disillusionment and authenticity. RinRin, the Filipino-born Australian artist who collaborated on 'click', fuses hyper pop with alt-metal and pop punk influences, having previously toured with Walk Off The Earth across China. Melbourne outfit DREGG rounds out the bill, bringing their high-energy fusion of metal, hardcore and rap with satirical commentary on modern culture.
Windwaker vocalist Liam Guinane expressed enthusiasm for the run, stating the band has poured significant effort into the record and is eager to perform the new material live for the first time while introducing The Pretty Wild to Australian audiences.
