The ABC Music team are bursting to share the news that they have signed much loved Melbourne bogan-funk outfit; Playlunch. The 7-piece have been bringing their very own irreverent version of funk & disco to a cult like response from audiences over Australia for the last two years.

Playlunch is a DIY project through and through. Everything from producing our records to designing our merch is something we handle on our own with our very small, carefully curated team, and initially we had a lot of reservations about the idea of signing our creative autonomy away to some profit-hungry record label with no understanding or connection to our fan-base. But after sitting down with the ABC Music team and showing them some of the more f*cked up tracks we’ve been working on for this next album, we were so pleased when they were just like ‘these are great, we love this. Playlunch is ABC Music’s first new signing since Graham ‘Asho’ Ashton joined the team leading A&R in August.

If you’ve spent any time in the Australian music scene this year, you’ve undoubtedly heard the name Playlunch on more than one occasion. Since bursting onto the scene only two years ago, the enigmatic eight-piece have gained a reputation for their unique brand of Australian Bogan Funk bangers.
Dressed head to toe in traffic-mat tracksuits, and adorned in speed-dealer sunnies, and yellow zinc – the band’s shows have become renowned for anthemic dance jams such as “Blue Light Disco” and “Foxtel Girl”. These shows are repeatedly packed with 00s babies dressed in No Hat No Play bucket hats, Kevin07 Handball tees and rumoured to include athletics day style house change competitions between divided sections of the bustling crowd.
With a string of viral videos on Tik Tok and Instagram since 2023, the band have turned the heads of such iconic Australian figures as Peter Hitchener & Abbie Chatfield via their 8 million+ views across videos on their social media platforms.
