Mortiis has performed in Australia before as a solo one man show, but this time Australia will be treated to something very special… he will be bringing his band with him for the very first time, performing songs from “**The Smell Of Rain**” album and other volumes of **Dystopian Despair**. This is a first and not to be missed. A phenomenal aural and visual experience. The band’s style has been compared to that of **Wardruna** and **Danheim** with added traditional throat singing and handmade traditional instruments such as the Kantele and the Talharpa. Their music has been variously described by reviewers as ‘truly authentic feeling’, ‘dark and mystical’ and as ‘keeping history alive’. Thematically, their work echoes many stories from Norse mythology and historic texts such as the Poetic Edda. In keeping with this tradition, much of Nytt Land’s lyrics are composed and sung in the Old Norse language.
