FANNY LUMSDEN ANNOUNCES “PLAY WITH FANNY” NATIONAL SUPPORT ACT COMPETITION FOR LOCAL AND DEVELOPING ARTISTS

TICKETS FOR HEADLINE CAPITAL CITY TOUR IN FEBRUARY

NEW SINGLE “LOOK AT ME NOW” OUT NOW
Weeks out from the commencement of her first ever national capital city headline tour, multi-award-winning singer songwriter Fanny Lumsden has announced a competition for one local artist in each tour location to come play with her as her official support act!
The tour kicks off in Perth on February 6 and Fanny and her band The Prawn Stars will traverse the country with shows in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, wrapping the tour in Canberra on February 21.
Entrants are asked to upload a video performance of one song on the Fanny Lumsden / Destroy All Lines socials and Fanny will personally judge the entrants with results to be drawn on Wednesday 17 December.
Supporting developing, local artists is a cause close to Fanny’s heart and she expressed today, “Playing live is what has built my entire career, from Country halls tour, to Glastonbury and everything in between, so getting to hear other incredible artists do their thing and share the stage with them is such an inspiring part of the job for me. Australia is honestly bursting with talent at the moment, so I think there’s no better time to share the love, both for us as artists and with the audiences”.
This announcement follows the news of her Video of The Year, Golden Guitar award nomination for her autobiographical clip and latest single “Look at Me Now” ahead of Tamworth’s 54th Golden Guitar Awards scheduled for January 24th at the TRECC. The track is a reflection on her musical journey so far, recorded whilst on the road in Europe with her live band. The clip was produced by Fanny and Dan Stanley Freeman and is a testament to a career that continues to grow with every year. (View here)

The nomination has wrapped a huge year for Fanny that saw her headline a successful 23-date European tour and included a sold-out Country Halls tour in Scotland, no less than 7 festivals plus a support slot with fellow Australian singer songwriter Paul Kelly. Fanny then returned to Australia and immediately commenced her run of performances on Kelly’s Antipodean Arena Tour with Lucinda Williams. Festival shows at both Dashville Skyline and Savannah in the Round followed and she opened for Rob Thomas on his Australian tour in early November.

BIO:
Growing up on a sheep farm in western NSW all the way to Glastonbury UK via hundreds of Country Halls throughout regional Australia, 2x ARIA and 9x Golden Guitar, 3x AIR award winning artist Fanny Lumsden’s journey has been a unique one. Having “established herself as one of the one of the genre’s most esteemed performers” (The Australian) and with her fourth album HEY DAWN having taken the 2023 ARIA for Best Country Album, the CMAA Golden Guitar for Alt-Country Album of the Year and 2024 Country Album of the year at the AIR Awards, Fanny is a force to be reckoned with. Debuting at #1 on the Australian Album ARIA charts, it was the 4th highest selling country album of 2023 and her second album in a row to crack the ARIA Albums Chart top 10 (main chart).
Fanny is continuing to break the rules and confirm herself as “undoubtedly the brightest new (country) star of the current era” (Capital News).
Following her “breakthrough” album Fallow which took ARIA and AIR Country Album Awards plus five CMAA Golden Guitars in 2020 Fanny went on to be the only Australian Country Artist to play Glastonbury when she and her band the Prawn Stars packed Avalon Stage in 2023. She has then gone on to build a hugely loyal following across the UK and Ireland the old fashioned way.
Recognised for her DIY and trail blazing spirit shown by her regional Country Halls Tour where she has taken her joyous, energetic, and brilliant live show to over 300 halls across Australia, NZ and recently wrapping her second through the Scottish highlands.

Fanny has appeared on numerous television shows, including Spicks and Specs, Rockwiz, Play School Showtime, and The Set. She is also a Board member of Sound NSW, a Support Act Advocate, a Volunteer firefighter, and a documentary filmmaker. Fanny was named the 2021 Hume shire Local Woman of the Year, runs her own Record Label and Production company, Red Dirt Road, with her husband, Dan Stanley Freeman.
She completed a 23-date headline tour of Europe in 2025 that included a sold-out Country Halls tour in Scotland, 7 festivals plus a support slot with fellow Australian singer songwriter Paul Kelly. On her return to Australia Fanny commenced her run of performances on Kelly’s Antipodean Arena Tour with Lucinda Williams, festival shows at both Dashville Skyline and Savannah in the Round followed plus an opening spot for Rob Thomas on his Australian tour in early November.
Fanny’s autobiographical clip for her latest single “Look at Me Now” is up for a Video of The Year award at the forthcoming 54th Golden Guitar Awards in Tamworth scheduled for January 2026.
