Singer-songwriter Thelma brings her national tour to Adelaide in support of her forthcoming sophomore album, I Don't Play That Song Anymore, with Miss Kaninna as support. Thelma is heading back out on the road with an extensive nationwide tour behind her forthcoming sophomore album, and Adelaide is on the list.

The tour kicks off in New South Wales with shows in Newcastle, Thirroul, and Sydney, before heading west to Adelaide and Fremantle. From there Thelma heads to Melbourne, the Gold Coast, and Toowoomba, before wrapping up with a hometown finale in Brisbane.

The new album is the product of five years of writing, recording, and reflecting in studios around the world. It is a deeply personal and emotionally complicated record, threading heartbreak and positive affirmation together with what has become something of a signature sideline for Thelma: pop songs about dogs.

"This record has been a long time in the making," Thelma says. "It was created with love, heartache, forgiveness and care in mind. It's personal and kind of like I'm sharing pages from my diary with you, but it's time for it to fly free."

On the tour itself, she's just as candid. "It seems like forever since I did a national headline tour, but with a brand new album to choose songs from, the band and I are putting together a whole new show to play in these beautiful rooms. Can't wait to show you all!"

Melbourne's contemporary alternative folk band The Slingers will support Thelma across the tour, with two exceptions. In Adelaide, Miss Kaninna joins the bill instead, while in Fremantle both Miss Kaninna and Banjo Lucia will support.

For Adelaide audiences, it's a chance to hear an artist working through five years of accumulated material in a new live show, built specifically around the songs that make up this next chapter. Given the personal weight behind the record, expect the Adelaide show to lean into both the rawer and lighter sides of Thelma's writing, heartbreak and dog songs alike.
