Review by Markus Hamence – Celine Dion and The Bee Gees: Immortality – Performance date: Friday 14 November 2025, The Regal Theatre, Kensington Park, South Australia
Greg Gould’s Feast Festival triumph ‘Celine Dion and The Bee Gees: Immortality‘ at The Regal Theatre hits the stage like a glitter-charged fabulous storm – big vocals, big feelings and that delicious sense of theatre that makes a night out feel like a full-body reset. And with Tarryn Stokes and Kate DeAraugo along with Jessica McPherson Riley (as backing vocalist, but a true star) by his side, Gould turns what could’ve been a tribute into a full-throttle, heart-squeezing celebration of two colossal musical legacies. Brilliant. But, let’s in pack it…
“Tarryn Stokes (2023 winner of Australia’s The Voice), whose voice is so clean and centred it feels like a cool breeze running straight through the soundtrack…”
– Markus Hamence

Gould (From Australia’s Got Talent Fame) is in his sweet spot – commanding, cheeky, generous and absolutely locked into the emotional DNA of the music. His Celine moments land with that signature mix of velvet and fire, each note shaped with intention but never fussed over. It’s all about connection. Then he flips the switch and dives into Bee Gees territory, where the room slides into that late-night shimmer the Gibb brothers perfected. The falsetto pops, the groove tightens, and suddenly you’re in a disco dream with a modern kick.

Enter Tarryn Stokes (2023 winner of Australia’s The Voice), whose voice is so clean and centred it feels like a cool breeze running straight through the soundtrack. She adds finesse and glow without ever overshadowing the moment – she’s the collaborator every vocalist hopes for. Her Celine moments SHINE, Titanic’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’ and ‘It’s Al Coming Back To Me Now’ are the show standouts by far! Vocally she HAS the chops to carry these BIG numbers off. Credit.
“…Kate DeAraugo storms in with that unmistakable power, bringing grit, heart and the kind of authenticity you can’t manufacture…” – Markus Hamence
Then Kate DeAraugo storms in with that unmistakable power, bringing grit, heart and the kind of authenticity you can’t manufacture. Her ‘ I Am A Woman In Love’, exceptional and emotive. Kate is a STAR in every sense. Then, when the three of them come and lock in together, the sound is huge, lush and beautifully lived-in.
What makes the show sing is the chemistry. These three perform the classics, yup, but, they inhabit them too. There’s a looseness, a playfulness, a sense that they’re not just paying homage, but inviting the audience into something new, something alive. It’s nostalgia with a pulse and a vibe with cool, in-the-moment, energy. The band were tight and the energy was real. Faultless in unison.

Hightlights?
Well apart from the BIG hits from Celine and the BGs we had an encore of original songs from all four vocalists.
Jessica McPherson Riley gave us fabulous country with ‘Before I Found You’. Tarryn Stokes served us her brand new, two-day-old, single ‘Rubies and Gold’, dedicated to her school bullied niece, beautiful. Greg Gould delivered magnificence (As a duet with Tarryn) his ‘Come Home’ about an enduring relationship with all it’s trials and complexities (We’ve all been there yeah?!). AND though Kate DeAraugo opened her heart and gave us her soul as she discussed her addiction period after ‘Idol’. It was real and authentic as she sung her soul with ‘Why Do I Feel This Way’. Were there tears? Heck yeah, with all the performances, 100%.

Wrap Up
‘Immortality’ feels like one of those nights where music becomes its own language – bold, emotional, theatrical and utterly uplifting. A Feast Festival standout with its heart on its sleeve and its voice turned all the way up. Exactly the kind of night that reminds you why live performance matters. If it comes back, GET TICKETS!
