Review by Markus Hamence – Bubble Show For Adults Only – Performance date: Wednesday 11 March 2026. Garden Of Unearthly Delights, Adelaide, South Australia.
Final Season. After 10 years of the Bubble Cult hit, now is your last chance to see Bubble Show for Adults Only.
Artistic, Mind Bending, Hilarious and filled with stunning hi-level bubble skills. An hour of bubbles across 9 vignettes each capturing a different story from hilarious to hedonistic, themed with different styles of bubbles.
Bubbles on bodies, giant bubble tubes executed by 9 inch heels, smoke bubbles, twirling carousels, cubes, foam tentacles, giant screens of bubbles all executed by two of the most shredded performers you will see this Festival!
Let’s ‘Pop The Bubble’ with me below…

There’s something wonderfully unhinged about the Bubble Show for Adults Only, and at the 2026 Adelaide Fringe the production floats in with extra significance. Celebrating its 10th anniversary – and billed as the final outing of the show – this cheeky, soap-slinging spectacle feels like both a victory lap and a last wild party inside a cloud of bubbles.
Fronted by performers Kurt Murray and Iulia Benze (now Adelaide based), the show transforms the simple childhood joy of blowing bubbles into a late-night cabaret that is playful, mischievous and endlessly inventive. Murray brings a charismatic ringmaster energy to the stage, leaning into the comedy and the crowd work with a knowing grin, while Benze (in massive Gaga-envious heels) balances the chaos with a more hypnotic style of bubble artistry that feels almost balletic. Together they create a dynamic that is part circus duo, part mischievous science experiment gone gloriously off the rails.

The magic of the show lies in its sheer visual quirky, soapy inventiveness. Giant bubble tubes stretch across the stage, smoke-filled spheres drift slowly through the lights, and delicate bubble sculptures appear (even in the guise of erect male appendages) and vanish in seconds. At times the stage feels like a living installation of liquid glass, with bubbles stacked, stretched, twisted and exploded in ways that seem almost impossible. It’s strangely mesmerising watching something so fragile become the centrepiece of a full theatrical spectacle. It IS a joy to see.
But this is Fringe after dark, and the humour leans knowingly into the show’s adults-only title. Murray and Benze are quick with a wink, a revealing costume change, a sly gag or an outrageous moment that sends the crowd into laughter. The performance thrives on audience reaction – the gasps when a massive bubble formation holds together longer than expected, and the cheers when one of the performers pushes the boundaries of what bubbles can do. Goes to prove my childhood bubble baths could have been so much more fun 😉

There’s also a sense of celebration running through the room. After a decade of touring and delighting audiences, the production carries a warm nostalgia, as if the performers and the crowd are all sharing one last bubbly send-off. The energy is infectious, and the audience seems keenly aware they’re witnessing the end of a wonderfully odd Fringe favourite.
Part circus, part cabaret, part playful science experiment, Bubble Show for Adults Only proves that even the simplest idea can be transformed into something wildly theatrical. As a 10-year anniversary farewell, it floats out of the Adelaide Fringe in a swirl of laughter, applause and shimmering soap bubbles – a fittingly joyful finale for one of the festival’s most delightfully quirky late-night experiences.
I’m hoping for an encore season… may no-man/woman pop this bubble EVER!
