Review by Markus Hamence – Bernie Dieter’s Club Kabarett – Performance date: Monday 6 March 2026. Garden of Unearthly Delights, Adelaide, South Australia.
The hottest cabaret club East of Berlin comes to Adelaide!
Join deliciously salacious, über-award winning Bernie Dieter as her gin-soaked haus band soundtracks a night of breathtaking circus, gender-bending aerial and fire-breathing sideshow at its most provocative and hilarious best. With a dizzying lineup of world class artists it’s an unmissable night of debauchery done right. More than just a show; “It’s an exuberant, juicy, guns-blazing performance that makes other cabaret look stale and tame.“ (Arts Hub) A triumphant middle finger held up against the mundane, this show is a life affirming lightning bolt of pure, unadulterated joy!

At the beating heart of the 2026 Adelaide Fringe, the Aurora Spiegeltent at the Garden of Unearthly Delights becomes a decadent playground of glitter, sweat and unapologetic freedom with Bernie Dieter’s Club Kabarett – this is 100% a show that doesn’t just flirt with the edges of cabaret, it kicks the door down and drags the audience straight into the party. At 100 minutes (with an intermission) this show delivers wild, scherz (frolic) fun in spades.
Bernie Dieter herself storms the stage like a wild cabaret ringmaster, part Weimar-era chanteuse, part punk rock provocateur. With a voice that can belt, growl and seduce in the same breath, she commands the room with fearless charisma. Backed by her gin-soaked haus band and a revolving lineup of international performers, the night becomes a thrilling collision of circus, burlesque, aerial artistry and razor-sharp comedy.

The atmosphere inside the Spiegeltent is electric long before the first big number lands. Performers weave through the crowd, the band warms the room with smoky riffs, and the energy feels deliciously underground – like stepping into a secret Berlin club where anything might happen.
Jacqueline Furey, Iva Rosebud, Jarred Dewey and Soliana are slick and perfected with their character on stage. Jacqueline, this mistress of fire and swords, Iva, the mistress of the birthday cake, Soliana, the mistress of contortion, and Jarred, the master of aerial feats and body strength. A freakin’ well chosen cast of unique individuals, all a bit bonkers in their own special way. Shout-out to the three-piece band also, who are equally very much art of the show and keep up with the antics that are delivered to us.
What unfolds is a beautifully chaotic celebration of individuality. As mentioned; Sword swallowers, fire breathers, aerial artists and gloriously outrageous characters take turns dazzling the crowd, each act dialling up the spectacle while Dieter keeps the whole circus spinning with wicked humour and rebellious cabaret anthems.

Yet beneath the glitter and debauchery lies something more powerful. The show taps into the rebellious spirit of classic Weimar cabaret – that historic blend of satire, sensuality and social commentary – reminding audiences that cabaret has always been about freedom, identity and pushing against the status quo.
What makes Club Kabarett truly addictive is the sense of community it creates. Dieter’s cheeky audience interactions dissolve the barrier between stage and crowd, turning the room into one collective, slightly wicked celebration of life. For an hour or two, the Spiegeltent becomes a glitter-soaked sanctuary where everyone is invited to let loose, laugh loudly and embrace their inner misfit.
In true Fringe fashion, Bernie Dieter’s Club Kabarett is outrageous, thrilling and gloriously unfiltered. It’s cabaret with bite, circus with attitude and a late-night party rolled into one irresistible spectacle.
A bold, boozy, glitter-drenched highlight of the 2026 Adelaide Fringe.
