HARVEY: What if your best friend was a six-foot tall invisible rabbit?
South Australian theatre royalty, media identity and author Peter Goers will bring Mary Chase’s Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, HARVEY to life this November in association with Holden Street Theatres.
Peter Goers reprises the lead role of Elwood P. Dowd, a man whose best friend is a six-foot-tall invisible white rabbit, Harvey at Holden Street Theatres, The Studio from 4 to 22 November 2025.
The Rosie Aust directed version of HARVEY will return to the South Australian stage for the first time in over two decades featuring a leading local cast assembled by Goers.
Widely regarded as one of the funniest and most delightful plays ever written, HARVEY is a classic that is celebrated for its whimsical charm and feel-good comedy. The production was adapted into an Oscar winning movie starring the legendary James Stewart.
Enter the world of Elwood P. Dowd and his invisible friend Harvey in a journey of imagination, kindness and what it means to be ‘normal’. At the heart of HARVEY is the value of illusion, accepting people and the joy of friendship and kindness.
According to Peter Goers the opportunity to present HARVEY and reprise the leading role is a thrilling one.
“I love this work and role and have nursed the ambition to play Elwood again. Thanks to Holden Street Theatres and Rosie Aust, here it is”, said Goers.
“Elwood is a much kinder, gentler and more considerate man than me but that’s why I am playing him. Acting is taking a break from yourself”.
This production features an incredible local cast including Dora Stamos, Rebecca Kemp, Julia Whittle and Robert Cusenza.
HARVEY is the grand finale of Peter Goers highly acclaimed three-year tenure as Director in Residence at Holden Street Theatres.
