NEW TRACK LIFTED FROM FORTHCOMING DEBUT SOLO ALBUM
Award-winning artist Tom Busby unveils Cyclone, a further taste of his forthcoming debut solo album Rockhampton Hangover, out later this year.
Discussing the new track, Tom explains, “Cyclone opens my debut solo album – a song I wrote with Ben Kweller that blends traditional country with a wild, indie-bluegrass spirit. It’s the most country I’ve ever sounded, but with a raw punk edge. When I worried it might be too country, Ben just laughed and said, “Hell yeah! It’s country as F…!”.
“Cyclone captures the feeling of stepping out on my own for the first time — chasing a dream, carrying a little fear, but fuelled by excitement. Some of Texas’s best players helped bring that fearless energy to life on this track.”
The footage in the Cyclone video was shared to editor Nick Atkins by people on ground filming throughout Tropical Cyclone Alfred in March and woven together by a live performance at one of Busby’s recent shows. Cyclone follows Tom’s second single Someone Strong and debut solo single Waiting For Tomorrow, which achieved over 30K streams in the first weeks of release.
Tom is currently on the road, playing his inaugural solo tour. You’ll find him in Bundaberg tonight, followed by Brisbane next Friday night May 30, before playing Magnetic Island Live on June 7. He also joins the lineup on Lighthouse Rock in Burnett Heads, the event taking place on October 18.
