The release follows a successful run of Australian shows supporting **AMORPHIS** in September, which saw **THE ETERNAL** bring their distinctive blend of dark, atmospheric metal to audiences across Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, and Canberra. Their live performances earned praise from the press, with **AMNPLIFY** highlighting frontman Mark Kelson's *“vocals were delivered with a worldclass polish and commanding stage presence all set long”*alongside the band's musicianship of *“a really high calibre,”* while **HOT METAL** hailed their show as *“an equally powerful performance.”*

Meanwhile, ***Obscured Horizons*** continues to receive praise from the international metal press. UK's **POWERPLAY MAGAZINE** hailed the record as *“a remarkable addition to The Eternal’s canon,”* while Germany's **METAL HAMMER** celebrated it as *“a total work of art,”* and Australia's **METAL ROOS**praised its *“depth and creativity that is unmatched!”* In a recent interview with Denmark's **METALIZED MAGAZINE**, **Mark Kelson** also shed light on the band's progressive approach: *“When we talk about our music being progressive, it shouldn't be understood as us being technical wizards. We're not Dream Theater. The experimental side comes through in the atmospheric textures.”*

Looking ahead, **THE ETERNAL** are set to return to Finland in June 2027, performing at **Kesä Mössö** in Lahti alongside **AMORPHIS** and Danish rock veterans **D-A-D**. With more live announcements coming soon, fans can look forward to further opportunities to experience the band's captivating music on stage!

Released on **September 18, 2026**, via **Reigning Phoenix Music**, ***Obscured Horizons*** marks the eighth studio album from **THE ETERNAL**. Following the widespread acclaim of their 2024 full-length ***Skinwalker*** and the evocative 2026 EP ***Celestial***, the band returns with one of its most immersive and ambitious works to date, further refining its signature blend of doom-laden textures, progressive sophistication, and haunting melodic resonance.

At its core, ***Obscured Horizons*** explores disillusionment, fractured identity, and the struggle to reclaim clarity in a world saturated with distortion. Moving through emotional collapse, existential unrest, and eventual renewal, the album confronts deception, memory, and the search for self-awareness. Combining melancholic atmospheres with crushing heaviness, intricate arrangements, and cinematic depth, **THE ETERNAL** deliver a deeply personal yet expansive listening experience.

Featuring **Mark Kelson** (vocals/guitars) and **Richie Poate** (guitars) in Melbourne, alongside **Niclas Etelävuori** (bass, ex-AMORPHIS/FLAT EARTH) and **Jan Rechberger** (drums, AMORPHIS) in Helsinki, the band continues to bridge continents through a shared musical vision. Produced by Kelson and Rechberger, ***Obscured Horizons*** represents both culmination and evolution, reaffirming **THE ETERNAL**'s place among the most distinctive voices in progressive dark metal.

***Obscured Horizons*** is available on CD, vinyl, and digital formats via **Reigning Phoenix Music**.
