Following three explosive showcases that had BIGSOUND buzzing, everyone’s new favourite alt-rockers sleepazoid have returned with a brand new single ‘NEW AGE’, out now via Surreal Sound. The title track of their yet-to-be-revealed sophomore EP, ‘NEW AGE’ debuted on triple j Drive yesterday, and is bold, melodic, gutsy, and honest – all the markers of what has made sleepazoid so immediately adored. Stream HERE and watch the music video HERE.

Written in the rear-view mirror of a major life transition for frontwoman Nette France, the new single touches on the evolution of identity after a break-up, and the process of grief and renewal that follow. A journey of healing, Nette’s ever-commanding vocals are carried through punchy drums and angsty riffs as she steps into her renewed sense of self (I had a vision, then I stepped in it – the small things together that make you feel different. I’m not afraid to know what I like, dress how I like, cry when I cry), while allowing space for tenderness as she reflects I really loved you, I know you know that; but what we cut down we couldn’t grow back.

“Anyone that’s been through a big break-up can probably resonate with how lost and disoriented you feel,” says Nette. “When you’ve been with someone for so long (almost all of my 20s) and then all of the sudden you’re faced with the question of – who am I now without this person?

“Going through this big life transition, I found myself constantly flip flopping between seeking familiar comforts, and wanting to reinvent myself. In a way, this song is me taking stock of all the changes I’ve made in myself and in my life. From small things like experimenting with my style, to bigger changes – like being more honest with myself and acknowledging the end of a relationship that was very important to me.”

‘NEW AGE’ is the next step in what has been an incredibly fast-paced and fruitful 2025 for sleepazoid, from the release of their breakout triple j high rotation single ‘ALICE’ in February, to their stint supporting Faye Webster (US) on her sold out Australian tour in July. Their most recent release, ‘3AM’, was an immediate attention-grabber, clocking 100k+ streams in its first week of release and attracting an extensive list of DSP playlist additions and covers. ‘3AM’ received airplay across triple j, triple j Unearthed, and community radio including FBi, Triple R, 2SER, 4ZZZ, SYN, RTR and more, and saw the band make inroads internationally with spins on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 6. The track also found itself topping Best New Music lists across the internet, with Richard Kingsmill adding it to his Best of the Month playlist, plus inclusions from Rolling Stone, Happy Mag, Somersault and more. The band have also recently landed co-management representation with Los Angeles based management warm water., bringing them eyes and ears on the ground over in the US while they continue to grow under Baby Rat management in Australia.

sleepazoid’s forthcoming second EP, NEW AGE, is due out early 2026 and was produced and mixed by Jack Nigro at Sonora Studios, and mastered by Joe Carra. It follows up the band’s debut EP running with the dogs – an undeniably strong introduction that left an impressive mark with its crunchy riffs and quirky lyrics. As a result, the band found themselves at the centre of a loyal and swiftly growing fanbase, leading them to sell out their hometown headline launch show at Bergy Bandroom.

Gritty fan-favourite focus single ‘ALICE’ landed high rotation on triple j, as well as a music video premiere on triple j Unearthed and an abundance of praise across press and radio. Along with ‘ALICE’, punchy debut ‘RWTD’ and follow up ‘RATS’ clocked extensive editorial playlist support from Spotify including New Music Friday, All New Rock, Wire, Local Noise, Fresh Finds and more. Ahead of the EP release, the band also voiced the AFL’s Get In On It national ad campaign.

running with the dogs arrived as an abstract take on everyday life, and a reflection on the band’s shared experiences. The EP was self-produced through Groove Cult Records, mixed by Chris Doherty (Grinspoon / Hoodoo Gurus / Jet) and mastered by GRAMMY-nominated engineer Robin Schmidt (Wolf Alice / Royal Blood / Pixies). sleepazoid have continued to move from strength to strength, and with more new music due in the coming months and an exciting run of shows at Sydney’s SXSW in October, certainly aren’t ready to hit the brakes any time soon.
