Rob Hirst, Jim Moginie and Hamish Stuart’s new EP, A Hundred Years or More, has been released today with the first CD pressings already sold out with orders taking place now for the second and final pressing arriving early December.
The EP contains four new, existential songs from the heart and features two tracks with Rob’s Ghostwriters’ partner Rick Grossman on bass, while Rob’s daughter Lex Hirst sings backing vocals on First Do No Harm (Track 1). His daughter, Gabriella Hirst, also appears on the record, taking centre stage for the first time on the title track. Andrew McMillen from The Australian aptly described it best saying “the title track pulsates with poignancy” and Michael Dwyer from Nine saying “songs are drenched in psychedelic sunshine and melody”.

This latest EP follows the success of Red Continent, which topped the Australian Independent Record Labels Association charts in September 2023, and reached #3 on the ARIA Chart Report. Like Red Continent, A Hundred Years or More was recorded by Jim Moginie at Oceanic Studio on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Mixing was by Warne Livesey, who has worked with Midnight Oil and the band’s members since 1987. Ted Howardrecorded the lead vocal on the title track.
Pre-orders for the 2nd and final CD pressing are open now exclusively via Songland Records from here. The album is also available for streaming on all platforms from here.
Rob Hirst said, “Jim, Hamish and I are overwhelmed by the positive feedback from those who’ve already heard our new EP, A Hundred Years or More.
“It’s been a joyful ride from the songwriting through to recording, mixing, mastering and the release, plus the late inclusion of Chuck Bradley’s brilliant artwork and photography. Many thanks to all involved!”
A Hundred Years or More is distributed by Eleven: A Music Company.
