#1 AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY ALBUM STEEL TOWN OUT NOW

Solrise Records / Virgin Music Group’s Australian-born, Nashville-based country star Morgan Evans has dropped Letting You Go, his new single and video from the freshly released album, Steel Town which has held the #1 spot on the Australian country album chart for 2 consecutive weeks. (Album out now).

Written by Evans with fellow Aussie Lindsay Rimes, the track is an upbeat blast of windows-down jangle-pop where “you” is every assumption, hope, and plan that came before, sung at the top of Evans’ lungs. “It feels like shedding a skin or something like that.” he describes.

Filmed in Nashville, the clip sees Evans and Kyler Finney receive an SOS message from a contact in desperate need of moving on. They proceed to navigate the suburbs in a junk collection truck gathering discarded items of past personal relevance. The video features playful representations of Evans’ experiences with personal connections and online trolls, transporting the objects with a plan to dispose of them, cast everything painful aside and successfully move forward.

Morgan expressed today… “I hope this gives you a good laugh!

This song has always felt like a lighthearted, nostalgia-soaked release valve opening, and I wanted the video to feel the same way.

Easily the most fun I’ve ever had making a music video. Shout out to comedian Kyler Finney for bringing the vibes and Director Quinton Cook for having the vision and helping bring it to life.

Cheers to letting go of the shit that no longer serves you. And cheers to gas station hot dogs and the aspirational place where you play drums, with said hot dogs, on the steering wheel.”

Fans can look forward to live performances of the new track on both Australian Idol and Sunrise early next week.

Letting You Go follows the previous singles, album title track Steel Town, the stunning duet Two Broken Hearts feat. Laci Kaye Booth, and Beer Back Home, his first single of this new era written over a period of reflection spent in Newcastle, reigniting his passion for songcraft.

His much-anticipated national album theatre tour commences on Thursday 21 May with shows scheduled for Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane and all ages shows in Adelaide and Sydney, with special guest Laci Kaye Booth (USA) joining for all dates.

The Steel Town Tour will be the biggest tour I’ve ever done. The biggest show, the biggest band and a record that was created to be shared live! I can’t fucking wait!”, he expressed.

Evans also forms part of the line-up for Meatstock in Toowoomba on 11 April and Gippsland on 18 April and has additionally been confirmed as the headline act for Country Fest in Townsville on Saturday 13 June.

ABOUT MORGAN EVANS

Beneath the globally appealing country sound Morgan Evans is known for runs the unmistakable influence of his coastal Australian roots. Raised by blue-collar parents on a few acres of land along Australia’s east coast, he carries that grounding with him wherever his music goes.

It’s been two years since he last released music. Evans spent much of that time in his hometown of Newcastle, the steel city where he first fell in love with songwriting. That period of reflection tapped a deep vein of creativity, ultimately bringing him back to Nashville with a renewed passion for crafting songs that resonate on a global scale. Today, his music has been streamed over one billion times worldwide, a testament to the universal connection he’s built with fans.

His 2018 debut album, Things That We Drink To, catapulted Evans into international acclaim, delivering his first-ever country radio #1 with the Platinum-certified “Kiss Somebody” and the Gold-certified fan favorite “Day Drunk,” while drawing praise from Rolling Stone, Billboard, PEOPLE, and more. In 2022, he headlined Australia’s biggest country music festival, CMC Rocks, and has toured extensively across North America and Europe.

Following two more EPs, Evans hit a new career high with the release of the raw and viral “Over For You.” The track marked a cathartic reset and culminated in two sold-out nights at the iconic Sydney Opera House, just down the road from his hometown—a milestone captured on his 17-song Live at the Sydney Opera House album.

Evans has now launched his next chapter with sophomore studio album, Steel Town, available now.
