Speaking on it, vocalist Sam Octigan shares: *“We’ve always been a band that champions scene involvement and contribution. That may have come in the form of a pit call, or a conversation at the merch table. Ultimately, hardcore is music for the youth and as we’re returning as somewhat elder statesmen with this record, we wanted to encapsulate that message in a song that was us speaking directly to the youth, the next generation. ‘Show me how you get down!’ – meaning,  we don’t make the rules, we’re not hanging onto the old ways, we want to see the new breed. This is your scene, you create the culture, be empowered to do your thing. We want to be inspired by what you’re doing – so be empowered to do it!”* Breaking out with 2009’s *The Sun Has Set* EP, followed by their 2011 debut album *Hell Split Wide Open*, Iron Mind signed to Flatspot Records in 2014 for the release of their self-titled LP. Building up a global name for themselves with intense live sets, they toured with bands such as **Turnstile**, **Terror**, **No Warning**, and **Harm’s Way** during that time. Shifting down a gear in terms of a full tour schedule and releasing new music, Iron Mind opted to simply play an annual show in their home scene for a number of years, the band returned in 2023 with *Assume Your Ultimate Form*. Controlled, collected, and motivated, the band thereafter entered the studio to record what would become *Test Of The Iron Mind.* Aptly titled, the ten tracks on* Test Of The Iron Mind* nod to Iron Mind’s history, while clearly written with the band’s contemporary vision. Produced by Otis Bennie (AWOL), recorded by Sam Johnston at The Black Lodge, and mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit, the raw energy found on Iron Mind’s past releases is transformed into a massive, crisp sound that still instills a heavy conveyance.
