Rob Hirst | Jim Moginie | Hamish Stuart announce new EP A Hundred Years or More
Released: Friday 14 November
Rob Hirst, Jim Moginie and Hamish Stuart are proud to announce the arrival of A Hundred Years or More – four new existential songs from the heart.
The latest EP follows the success of Red Continent, which topped the Australian Independent Record Labels Association charts in September 2023, and reached #3 on the ARIA Chart Report.
Like Red Continent, A Hundred Years or More was recorded by Jim Moginie at Oceanic Studio on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Mixing was by Warne Livesey, who has worked with Midnight Oil and the band’s members since 1987. Ted Howard recorded the lead vocal on the title track.
Joining Rob, Jim and Hamish on two tracks is Rob’s Ghostwriters’ partner Rick Grossman on bass, while Rob’s daughter Lex Hirst sings backing vocals on First Do No Harm (Track 1).
Rob’s daughter, Gabriella Hirst, takes centre stage for the first time, singing lead vocal on the EP’s title track. A track by track is below.
A Hundred Years or More will be available on CD from Songland Records. All copies will be signed by the band.
Rob says: “Ever since Hamish saw the light and followed Emeli to Manly an amazing musical chemistry has formed between the three of us. Tracking the songs is always easy and joyful – fun! Working with the best players in the country never fails to elevate my songs into realms I couldn’t even imagine.”
Jim added: “Always a pleasure, an honour and joyful to work on Rob’s beautiful songs, since we started as teenagers together, but now with the small nucleus of Hamish on drums, percussion and vocals, Rob on songs, vocals and acoustic guitar and myself on engineering, guitar, keyboards and vocals.
“There’s no second guessing with us. ‘A Hundred Years or More’ is different from the first EP as Ghostwriters and Hoodoo Gurus’ Rick Grossman added pulsing bass on a couple of tracks, as did Rob’s two daughters adding ethereal vocals. Warne’s mixes are stunning, and brought all the power, nuance and musicality of the songs”.
Hamish said: “Collaborating for a second time on this release, Rob, Jim and I easily fell back into playful music making whilst getting the job done. And a good job it is, don’t you think? With the help of Jim, Ted and Warne, another beautiful EP”.
A Hundred Years or More is distributed by Eleven: A Music Company and released on Friday, 14 November 2025 and is available now for pre-order exclusively via Songland Records from here.
