Cold Chisel – You’ve Got to Movefrom the new greatest hits album 50 Years: The Best Of

Cold Chisel have released a new single today, You’ve Got To Move, from their upcoming and definitive Best Of album: 50 Years – The Best Of.

50 Years – The Best Of, which covers all albums and phases of their incredible career, is to be released on Friday, 16 August and coincides with the band’s 50th Anniversary and their huge, sold-out tour, The Big Five-0.

You’ve Got To Move was recorded when the band was recording their #1 album Blood Moon. “We recorded the song back in 2019 and decided to keep it aside for something special,” says guitarist/vocalist, Ian Moss. “Celebrating 50 years is pretty damn special, so now is the perfect time to release it. Kevin Shirley mixed the song in January this year and we knew we had it nailed.”

You’ve Got To Move features a Cold Chisel signature, with vocalists Ian Mossand Jimmy Barnes trading verses across the track, and it originates from the pen of the band’s primary songwriter, Don Walker.

The album 50 Years – The Best Of is a 25 song Double-Vinyl and Double-CD set (it’s also available on streaming and download services) and includes all of Cold Chisel‘s classic songs.

The vinyl album will be available in 3 distinct formats and can be pre-ordered now from here

* Gold Vinyl – this is only available at JB Hi Fi
* A Unique Picture Disc design – exclusively available from Love Police ATM
* Standard black vinyl – available at all other retail outlets

All formats feature a unique gatefold montage of images from their 50 year history and include new liner notes by Boy Swallows Universe author Trent Dalton (written specifically for this release).

Further, the CD release comes in an unusual Gold disc format – denoting their 50th anniversary.

The album features Khe Sanh, Standing On The Outside, Flame Trees, Cheap Wine, Forever Now, When The War Is Over, Bow River, Rising Sun, My Baby, The Things I Love In You, Saturday Night, All For You, Lost, Choirgirl, Breakfast At Sweethearts, Getting The Band Back Together – as well as You’ve Got To Move. The album also includes two incredible live performances – Shipping Steel (from The Live Tapes Vol 2: Live At Bombay Rockand Goodbye (Astrid Goodbye) which appeared on Swingshift – which are arguably the definitive versions of these two Breakfast At Sweethearts classics.

The album was planned for a week later, but all of the vinyl elements landed early and with strong pent-up demand, the band opted to move the album forward one week, to Friday, 16 August.

The song You’ve Got To Move will be accompanied by a studio video, filmed at 301 Studios by the band’s longtime director, Robert Hambling. The video is to be released on Friday, 26 July.
