Bromham, the Adelaide-based collective known for their warm and inclusive approach to folk music, release their new heartfelt EP Adulthood. The EP, written during a challenging time for frontman Dave and his family, encapsulates the power of community, love, and friendship in navigating life’s toughest moments.

Adulthood features three tracks that intertwine joy, reflection, and resilience, brought to life by Bromham’s distinct communal style, with contributions from all 13 of its members. The title track ‘Adulthood’ delivers a stirring choral crescendo, a completely new element for Bromham, and captures the essence of growth, community, and personal strength. The EP delves deep into themes of family, grief, and the importance of supportive friendships in adulthood, drawing on the experiences of Dave and his wife, Hannah, and his sister Jess.
“Adulthood was born out of a really tough time for my family,” explains Bromham’s frontman, Dave. “We wanted to create something that reflected how incredibly grateful we are for the people around us – the love, encouragement, and support we received got us through. These songs are about celebrating that. I hope listeners can feel the warmth and connection we tried to capture.”
Recorded live at Forest Range Studios, Bromham’s unique writing process allowed each member to bring their influences into the mix. From the rhythmic Afrobeat touches in the first track to the cinematic feel of the later songs, the EP showcases the collective’s collaborative spirit. The stunning choir arrangement in the title track, ‘Adulthood’, and the horn harmonies elevate the EP into something truly special.
With inspirations ranging from Afrobeat to film scores, Adulthood is both a sonic journey and a deeply personal one. Bromham’s ability to weave intricate stories of love and struggle, while providing a communal, warm atmosphere, will resonate deeply with listeners of all backgrounds.
Bromham’s EP Adulthood is now available on all streaming platforms.
