TAKEN FROM NEW MIXTAPE TOO BRAZEN OUT TODAY

Take a walk on the sultry side with Kenyan-Australian artist Brazen Barbie today dropping a brand new single En Route; a slick and sharp outing that dives headfirst into self-reflection and empowerment, while also offering another glimpse into Brazen Barbie’s brand new mixtape TOO BRAZEN out today.

With swaggering sheen and humid sonic surrounds, En Route opens with Brazen Barbie’s effortless flow, declaring “my words deep cut, they barbaric / Nightmare on Elm Street, vocabulary graphic”, setting the scene for sharp lyrical depth piercing through throwback nods, soulful hip hop and R&B flavours, and lashings of strutting attitude that will make you want to take on the world. “En Route came out of a messy headspace while I was navigating loss, betrayal from closest friends and relationships and burning out,” explains Brazen Barbie. “It’s about choosing to keep focus and choosing yourself while life may be messy at times. Instead of meditating through chaos, powering through it.  It’s also a quiet reminder of strength and to keep moving forward.”

Releasing her debut mixtape BRAZEN earlier this year, Brazen Barbie’s hotly-anticipated collision of grit, glam and conviction collided seamlessly, drawing attention from the likes of Rolling Stone Australia, with Brazen Barbie also nabbing triple j Unearthed’s feature artist in July. Now a bona fide fixture in the ever-growing emerging Australian R&B and hip hop scene, Brazen Barbie will close out 2025 with an unforgettable bang via the forthcoming release of her sophomore mixtape, TOO BRAZEN; a collection that glows to even greater new heights, as Brazen Barbie herself elaborates: “same essence but with way more reflective writing and growth.”

Pulsing with lyrical content that spans self-discovery, reflection, relationship breakdowns, healing, growth, confidence and feminine strength, TOO BRAZEN dazzles with Brazen Barbie’s trademark confidence coated with authenticity and potent sonic flair; an inescapable fact on full display from the opening bars of Pack It Up, all glimmering menace and a call to action to for taking your power back. From here, TOO BRAZEN journeys between sauntering sonics and a message of powering through chaos (En Route), a flirtatious yet grounded ode to self-discovery (Why Don’t Ya), gritty bounce balanced with gratitude, ambition and manifestation (Blessings), a sinewy dive through finding fuel in the chaos (Payback), and, via closing track and previous single Heavy Rings, an slinky outing that concludes proceedings on a beautifully fanged note, as Brazen Barbie explains, “This one is about walking in a room like you own it and power dynamics. There is a hint of relationship/revenge tension in the song, less heartbreak, and more the final realisation that somebody wasn’t on your level. Holding your own with or without them, knowing your worth and knowing you’re not the one missing out on anything.”

Kenyan-Australian, Perth-via-Melbourne creative powerhouse Brazen Barbie brandishes her formidable talent and drive alongside powerful authenticity, her dominating voice and iced out bold lyricism. Relentlessly growing her back catalogue, delivering hit after hit throughout her career to date, Brazen Barbie pens rawness straight from the heart, with a prowess capable of complete world domination. Sparking her music journey in primary school, with her early interests centred around cello and singing, Brazen Barbie’s musical passion expanded in her teens, ultimately manifesting into her following the footsteps of luminaries such as Gangsta Boo and crunk pioneer Duke Deuce, but with her own indelible sonic flavour that continues to set her apart from the rest.

From earlier hits like CHECK and DON’T TALK through to her debut mixtape, 2025’s BRAZENBrazen Barbie’s rightfully braggadocious bars dovetail confidence, independent and femininity, softening her piercing lyricism at times with playful punchlines in magnetic displays of profundity and creative dexterity. Previously performing at Sydney Fringe Festival, BIGSOUND, SXSW and Promiseland, ticking off appearances on prominent editorial playlists like Spotify’s The Drip, The Flavour, Local Hype and A1, not to mention taking out the cover of Spotify’s Hot Girl Sh*t, Fresh Finds AU & NZ and Local Hype, and notable features on Apple Music’s Rap Life, VICE and triple j, Brazen Barbie was also inducted into the Acclaim Magazine’s All Stars Class of 2024. But despite her storied success to date, it genuinely feels like we are only scratching the surface of Brazen Barbie’s transcendent rise as she continues to blaze her own path in the oversaturated, male-dominated world of hip-hop, rap and R&B.

Resilient, made of brass, and unashamedly (and fittingly) brazen, Brazen Barbie’s brand new chapter ascends today, via her new single En Route, and mixtape TOO BRAZEN; and it’s right in time for some perfectly soundtracked summer heat, as Brazen Barbie concludes, “There’s a definite club/summer influence running through the production of some of the tracks on this mixtape as we’re going into summer/club season, plenty of up-tempo beats, and carefree/confident delivery.”

Brazen Summer has commenced!  And with a European tour locked in for April 2026, she’s gearing up to take this next era global.

En Route and TOO BRAZEN both out today.
