Anya Alchemy is back with a bang, announcing the release of her newest single, [Big Girls](https://us.list-manage.com/fcZ1iWz33AD?e=220f1bd8bb&c2id=0c4f074a7248f1c39f90f475a2115518), a swaggering alt-pop banger that delivers a powerful ode to body neutrality, self-confidence and the freedom of embracing yourself on your own terms.

Backed by a dream team of collaborators, Anya joins forces with her brother Jay Ferriere (PEZ, 360) on production and co-writing duties, with Matt Bartlem (Boo Seeka, Jarryd James) bringing his expertise as mix engineer, and Dale Becker (Billie Eilish, SZA) on mastering. The result is a bold, sonically polished release that pairs Anya’s rich, soulful vocals with punchy electronic hip-hop elements, cementing her reputation as an artist unafraid to turn personal experiences into unapologetically honest pop.

Born from a video Anya encountered on social media exploring the differences in how women are treated depending on their body size, Big Girls transforms a deeply personal experience into a sharp, self-assured anthem. Reflecting on the contrast between being a curvier, awkward teenager and growing into an adult who embraces her body, Anya unpacks the uncomfortable reality of how quickly society’s perception of women can shift and what it means to recognise your own worth beyond that validation.

For Anya, the inspiration was as confronting as it was familiar.

“I wrote Big Girls after watching a TikTok video about growing up chubbier and the difference in how men treat you when you’re bigger versus smaller. I related to that HARD, especially reflecting on my experience of how I was treated as a chubbier, awkward teenager compared to when I grew into my skin and accepted my body as an adult. Boys that jeered me in high school were now trying to match with me on dating apps. It felt like whiplash, and I wanted to write something about that experience.”

With its infectious alt-pop swagger, Big Girls turns a universally recognisable experience into a defiant statement of self-worth, reminding listeners that confidence isn’t about earning the world’s approval, it’s about knowing your value was never tied to the size of your body.

Big Girls is released today.
