Can you share a bit about your background and what brought you to Adelaide?

I’m Adelaide through and through… my daughter is even 6th generation Adelaide Hills!
I’ve worked in the media industry in South Australia for over 30 years.

What are your interests outside of reviewing arts and entertainment?

I’m dedicated to restoring heritage buildings. We renovated the 1860 Hay Valley Church
I am now restoring the old 1946 Chandlers Soft Drinks Factory in the Main Street of Mannum and a few other art deco buildings.

I’m a food & wine tragic and love a dance to disco and house music.

What’s your favourite things about living in Adelaide?

That you can go anywhere an probably know someone. I get a buzz showing visitors around and see them fall in love and get such a surprise at how much we offer to tourists.

Do you have a personal mantra or philosophy that guides your work?

I’VE SURVIVED TOO MNY STORMS TO BE BOTHERED BY RAINDROPS!

Who or what inspires you most in life?

To be honest… I do. No one is cheering for me harder than the young girl I was or the older woman I want to be.

What’s a surprising or fun fact about you that not many people know?

I was the only private owner of a cemetery in Australia and essentially owned and cared for 146 bodies.

What’s your ideal way to spend a weekend in Adelaide?

Sleeping in… coffee, great food & wine either out at one of many wine bars or restaurants, at home or with friends or family.

Oh and if I have time… Thrift shopping.

If you could only recommend one place to visit in Adelaide, what would it be?

Hahndorf – it’s got lots to see and experience and it’s got something to interest anyone.

What’s a favourite book, movie, or song that resonates with you?

My favourite movie is SUPERSTAR – silly humour that I still get a totally belly laugh with when watching with my best girlfriends.

What advice would you give to someone looking to explore arts and entertainment in Adelaide?

It’ll take you weeks. Honestly Adelaide is the arts capital of Australia when it comes to the breadth and depth of what there is to see, do and experience. Festivals, galleries, museums, street art, artists’ studios, first nations indigenous works, emerging, professional and world-class entertainment across all genres – music, visual arts, dance, performing arts, craft, writing and more. Too much to mention.
