The band is not alone in loving the new album, Ninety Nine. STACK magazine declared: “The Angelsstill rage with the passion and intensity of a young rock band just starting out.” And The Australian called it “a thrilling addition” to the band’s classic catalogue: “You have to hand it to The Angels … there’s more than enough here to excite any veterans of the 1979 Sydney Opera House riots.”

The Angels – Exclusive Album Showcase will be a triple treat for Angels fans. The night will open with a support set from a couple of guys you might know: The Brewster Brothers. Then The Angels – John Brewster, Rick Brewster, Sam Brewster, Tom Brewster and Nick Norton – will be playing the complete Ninety Nine album, followed by an extended encore featuring the band’s classic hits.

Ninety Nine, the band’s first studio album in 10 years, is the first to feature Nick Norton on lead vocals. “The fans have really embraced Nick Norton out front, which means a lot to us,” John says.

After joining the band in 2011 on drums, Nick became The Angels’ lead singer in 2023.

“Nick is a freak musician,” Rick Brewster says. As well as his vocal prowess, Nick adds a third guitar to The Angels’ famous wall of sound. “He’s also an amazing lyricist,” John notes. “And he has a great ‘character’ voice, which is really important in The Angels.”

When he heard the final version of Ninety Nine, Nick sent his bandmates a simple text: “It’s a beast. Best creative document I’ve ever been a part of.”

“I haven’t been this excited about anything we’ve done in the studio for many, many years,” John says. “I’m proud of everything this band has done, but we have what I call ‘benchmark albums’, particularly Face to FaceNo Exit and Dark Room.

“This, to me, is a benchmark album.”

“We’ve found a new energy,” Sam Brewster says. “And I think you can hear that on this record.”

From the intriguing title to the cover artwork, which depicts Rick Brewster’s predilection for collecting old phone boxes, Ninety Nine is classic Angels. And the songs are filled with mystery and menace and riffs that are a rallying cry to rock fans around the world.

The album also comes complete with a couple of curveballs. For starters, check out Rick’s epic ballad Heart To Heart and the funky Follow The Red Thread. And the album heralds the return of John Brewster’s harmonica, which can be heard blazing throughout the incendiary closing cut, Hue And Cry.

Ninety Nine shows there is no finish line for The Angels.

As Nick Norton sings in Minor Truth (Long Live The Queen), “Unwilling to apply the brake, leave the flotsam in your wake.”
