Following the recent #1 ARIA Australian Album chart debut of her new record “Backbone” and its title track’s nomination for 4 Golden Guitar awards, ARIA Hall-of-Famer Kasey Chambers has today announced acclaimed storyteller Jenny Mitchell will be joining her on her forthcoming national tour, commencing on January 23 at the Tamworth Town Hall.
Known for her soul-stirring lyrics, Jenny has carved herself a strong following in both her home country of New Zealand and here in Australia and she excitedly said today, “Like everyone in my generation of folk/country artists, Kasey has been a huge influence on my music. I am so deeply honoured to be able to share the stage with her and to see so many parts of Australia that I’ve dreamed of exploring!”
The extensive, 30-date album tour will be a special opportunity for her fans to join Kasey as she showcases new material from “Backbone” for the first time, along with her much loved hits, all masterfully delivered alongside her heartfelt stories. The tour will also be Kasey’s first since her shows with Busby Marou in 2022 and will this time see her visit every state in Australia over 5 months, signalling Kasey’s family tradition of traversing the country in her truck and caravan to bring her world-class live show to all corners of Australia.
The Tivoli Theatre in Brisbane and Wedge Theatre in Sale, Victoria shows have already sold out with the Perth, Melbourne, Devonport, Launceston and Wyong dates selling fast.
Confirming too that Australia’s love affair with Kasey continues more than 25 years since her first album release “The Captain”, as her new album “Backbone” debuted at #1 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart, #1 on ARIA Country Albums Chart and #3 on the ARIA Albums Chart!
Kasey also recently released her book “Just Don’t Be A Dickhead” (Hardie Grant Books), the material informing and inspiring the “Backbone” album.
