Jeromaia Detto – Giuseppe’s Love Quest: With sell out shows, accolades and critical acclaim, the mind behind the smash hits MUSH and When I Grow Up… is returning to Adelaide with a brand new show!
Giuseppe’s Love Quest is an all-in hour of silliness and collaborative play led by the disarmingly charming Italian beach boy, Giuseppe Alfresco. He is on a quest to understand “what is love?”, hoping to finally find connection and fall in love. The show inspires audiences to reflect on their experiences of love and connection in an attempt to help Giuseppe figure out what it all means to him. Giuseppe must learn many things on his journey, including to hug, to charm and to be a good dad as he discovers all that he can to be ready for dating. The hour is filled with wholesome, playful and whimsical moments that might help us all better understand how we can love, be loved, connect, and ultimately discover, “What is love?”.
Jeromaia Detto is Melbourne based theatre maker who has been training and performing across the globe for over a decade. Specialising in clown and improv, he has developed a unique style that focuses on play, spontaneity and collaboration, creating memorable characters and moments for audiences of all ages. The importance of play has been a cornerstone of his theatre making and underpins his drive to create positive performance spaces where crowds can join in the fun, being involved in each moment as they unleash their inner child. Love has eluded Jeromaia for many years which inspired him to discover more about what it all means. This show has been a wonderful exploration in breaking down the duality of a seemingly shared universal experience that is so unique and different for us all.
He has trained internationally at the iO Theatre in Chicago, with the Norway Clown Camp and is a graduate of Ecole Philippe Gaulier in France. Jeromaia has also taught improv and clown across the globe facilitating sell out workshops for school kids, adults, theatre groups and various NGOs.
