Markus Hamence is in The Jungle Room with Thomas Downes and Josh Downes of Purple Disturbance
Purple Disturbance released their brand new track ‘Bloody Racket’ and Josh, Thomas and Markus break it down plus more.

Purple Disturbance are a raw, high-voltage punk/alternative art rock four-piece ripping up norms straight out of Coffs Harbour, New South Wales. Known for gritty riffs, ferocious energy and a live show that’s equal parts chaos and precision, the band embodies a fresh pulse in the Australian scene with a sound that nods to punk legends like The Ramones and modern agitators such as Idles and Amyl and the Sniffers.
Formed by vocalist Thomas Downes, guitarist Jed Freudenstein, bassist Joshua Downes and drummer Jessica Franklin, Purple Disturbance channel unabashed youth and DIY spirit into every track and stage moment. Their music tackles social themes with razor-sharp lyrics and relentless drive, turning influences from punk, hardcore and alternative rock into a distinctly bold statement.
After breaking through with standout singles like Juice Stick and Criticise, Penalise, Attack and Slam, the band secured a deal with New World Artists in 2025, a milestone that’s taken their chaotic, hook-driven sound to wider audiences and major touring slots alongside Australian stalwarts such as Grinspoon, British India and Dune Rats.
Unapologetically loud, energetic and boundary-pushing, Purple Disturbance are redefining what next-gen Aussie punk rock can be, with a growing catalogue and live reputation that demand attention from coast to coast.
