Powerhouse Americana/folk duo Minor Gold are born from the alchemy of ARIA-nominated and award-winning songwriters, Tracy McNeil (CAN) and Dan Parsons (AUS). Since releasing their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album in August 2023, the pair have navigated life on the road without missing a beat. In the whirlwind of just over a year, Minor Gold have toured Australia twice, supported The Teskey Brothers in U.S/CAN, showcased at AmericanaFEST and Folk Alliance Internationaland are currently on their second national tour across the U.S., which includes an appearance at Mile of Music Festival in Appleton, WI.
Recent winners of the Queensland Music Awards‘ ‘Folk Award’, Minor Gold’s songs have had multiple adds to high rotation on radio in Australia and charted in the Top 10 on the NACC in the U.S. – there is much love for this charmed duo who keep delivering the goods.
Today they bring to the table a special new single – Over You a silky smooth 70’s style country ballad that oozes with the nostalgia of remembering a great love lost.
Although the pair had been writing their sophomore album, recorded in Los Angeles in 5 days earlier this month with Producer Dan Horne (Mapache, Circles Around the Sun, Cass McCombs), this standalone new track (separate from the forthcoming album) is not a song they’ve crafted themselves, but one pulled from the catalogue of Tracy McNeil’s late father, singer-songwriter Wayne McNeil.
Produced by Dan Parsons, the honesty & simplicity of the original song was captured by just letting the lonesome heartache and yearning ring through without complicating the instrumentation. Recorded at Catherine Studios in Hamilton Ontario, the session was a family affair, bringing into the fold ex-pat Australian singer-songwriter Chris Altmann on pedal steel and drums, and Tracy’s brother, musician and visual artist Logan McNeil lending his sibling third part harmony to the sweet Minor Gold vocal mix.
Parsons’ stellar lead vocal performance echoes the spirit and golden tone of Wayne’s voice, while truly making the song his own – a testament to the power of a good song.

The official music video aims to reflect the nostalgia of remembering a great love, and the heartache that still lingers when you just can’t move on. Filmed tag-team style by Parsons and McNeil, who worked to capture each other in raw, simple performances, they made meaningful use of various familiar old haunts in Tracy’s hometown of Port Colborne Ontario.
