Magic is made accessible for neurodivergent children – The Magic Pyjama Party.
After watching countless magic shows for children, Lachlan Wilde realised the need for a magic show tailored for neurodivergent children.
In a lightbulb moment he created The Magic Pyjama Party, a sensory-aware magic show, thoughtfully designed to be welcoming, comfortable and inclusive for children who experience sensory sensitivities – featuring low-stimulation magic, reduced sound levels and little to no flashing lights, in a welcoming and understanding atmosphere where children are free to take breaks if needed, and leaving and re-entering the space is okay.
Children are encouraged to wear their cosiest pyjamas and bring their favourite teddy-bear to the show, and experience “the world’s cosiest magic show”. Lachlan realised The Magic Pyjama was special when even the grown ups were turning up in their pyjamas!
“At its core, this show is about belonging… So many families miss out on the Fringe because not all shows feel accessible. The Magic Pyjama Party is all about building a world where neurodivergent children can belong and feel celebrated” – says creator, Lachlan Wilde.
In 2025, Lachlan Wilde received the Director’s Choice Award at The Melbourne Magic Festival – the award is a reflection of Lachlan’s evolving reputation for creating meaningful and accessible performances that resonate deeply with children and families.
