2021 Melbourne International Comedy Festival: Best Newcomer nominee
2019 Sydney Comedy Festival: Best Newcomer

How do you escape a mad world when time is fleeting, so much is fake and idiots are (still) everywhere? At a time of enormous change, Chris Ryan finds she still has more questions than answers. Renting again for the first time in years makes her feel like a child asking Mum for a biscuit: “Please can we have some fly screens?”.
Rather than trying to solve the puzzle of how to live a good life, she takes up gardening. When a stranger called Barbara taunts her in an online garden group, Chris lies awake trying to think of a zinger comeback. Why? Who cares what a stranger online thinks?
If a face care routine feels spiritual, if the right response to a wrong world is to scroll marketplace until you’re dead, if your best escape plan is to get lost in the weeds, this show is probably for you.

Life is flying by at warp speed and nothing lasts forever, you may as well be an Extreme Tenant.
Since starting stand-up later in life, Chris has become known for her relatable, understated and laconic observational comedy on ordinary lives and people. If it’s a song and dance or political hot takes you want, you won’t find them here.
Extreme Tenant marks Chris’ 5th solo show and will see her tour across Australia once again. Most recently, she joined UK comedy star Jen Brister on her national tour and opened for Judith Lucy and Kaz Cooke on their national tour of Kaz & Jude’s Menopausal Night Out.
