AFTERNOON DELIGHT: STONE & WOOD ENLISTS UNLIKELY TRIO TO SOUNDTRACK YOUR SUMMER AFTERNOONS

Stone & Wood is heading into Summer 2025 with a surprising creative collaboration that puts music and art at the centre of its biggest campaign to date.
Titled Afternoon Delight, the campaign reimagines the classic 1976 track with a new recording from an unlikely yet perfect trio, New Zealand Māori actor-musician Troy Kingi, surfer-artist Jaleesa Vincent, and the go-to drummer for everyone you know and love (Ruby Fields, Adam Newling, Lazywax, Warbaby), Patrick Rogers. Recorded earlier this year, the result is a fresh spin on a classic anthem. It’s more about beers with mates on the beach than quick afternoon flings.

The track is accompanied by an equally delightful three-minute music video, filmed in the Stone & Wood heartland of Byron Bay. Conceived and produced by Monster Children Creative and directed by award-winning filmmaker Hamish Bennett (best known for his film ‘Uproar’), the video captures the laidback rhythm of long summer afternoons. Known for his sensitive, character-driven storytelling, for Afternoon Delight Bennett captures Troy, Jaleesa and Patrick in a car, by the ocean, contemplating life’s big topics – surfing, Rubik’s Cubing and tap dancing.
Troy Kingi (Te Arawa, Ngāpuhi, Te Whānau-ā-Apanui) is a multi-award-winning, genre-defying musician, actor, and storyteller from Rotorua and Te Kahai. Famed for his ambitious 10|10|10 project – 10 albums in 10 genres in 10 years – alongside standout film roles in Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Mt Zion, Troy is a prolific songwriter and collaborator and provides the smooth lead vocal and guitar on Afternoon Delight.
Jaleesa Vincent is a fearless free surfer, musician, and creative wildcard from the Sunshine Coast. Thriving outside competition, she drops surreal surf edits, shapes boards, makes art, and even squeezes in taxidermy and tap dancing between barrels. Colourful, chaotic, and unapologetically original, Jaleesa keeps everyone guessing in and out of the water. Front and centre for cabaret punk band Cupid & the Stupids Jaleesa also created the first-ever surf musical, Juju The Surf Musical. She brings her guitar skills and dreamy backing vocals to the track.
Patrick Rogers is one of Australia’s most in-demand drummers, driving the rhythm for Ruby Fields, Adam Newling, Lazywax, Warbaby, Dylan Wright and more. He brings the perfect relaxed beat and deadpan brilliance to Afternoon Delight.

Afternoon Delight blends film, music, beer and place into a portrait of summer. It’s about slowing down, reconnecting and celebrating those fleeting moments that make the season, drives along the coast, laughter with friends, ocean swims and a cold beer at sunset to end the warm day.
Lion Head of Strategy & Creative, Craft & Premium Paul Tansley said, “We’ve had a lot of fun bringing this idea to life. It’s an iconic, feel-good song that captures the relaxed Stone & Wood occasion and just makes you want to get together with friends to catch up over a beer.”
Lion Executive General Manager – Marketing, Glen Brasington said, “The afternoon delight campaign is the largest for Stone & Wood to date, we’re looking forward to seeing people’s reactions and the impact it has to the market.”
