St John Ambulance Carols by Candlelight celebrates International Country Music Day with announcement of Australian country favourites Amber Lawrence and James Johnston
To mark International Country Music Day (Wednesday 17 September), organisers of St John Ambulance Carols by Candlelight are delighted to announce two of Australia’s most loved country artists, Amber Lawrence and James Johnston, will take to the stage at this year’s event.
Christmas is now only 16 weeks away and one of Adelaide’s most beloved festive traditions, St John Ambulance Carols by Candlelight, will return on Saturday 13 December 2025, bringing Christmas cheer, community spirit and magical performances to Elder Park/Tarntanya Wama.
St John Ambulance SA CEO, Maree Geraghty, said: “Country music is one of the world’s most popular genres and we’re proud to showcase country music artists at Carols.”
With a string of chart-topping singles and a reputation as one of the most streamed Australian country artists of the moment with over 134 million streams, James Johnston will bring his contemporary country sound and high-energy performance to Adelaide audiences.
Joining him is Carols favourite and multi-Golden Guitar Award winner Amber Lawrence, whose career spans more than two decades and whose heartfelt songs and vibrant stage presence have made her a household name in Australian country music.
James Johnston said: “I’m so excited to bring a little country to Christmas at this year’s St John Ambulance Carols by Candlelight. Who says you can’t have a fiddle and sleigh bells in the same song! This is going to be a special night!”.
Amber Lawrence said: “I can’t wait to perform at Carols by Candlelight. It’s a magical night that brings people together, and I’m so thrilled to be sharing the stage with James and so many other incredible artists.
“It’s going to be a beautiful way to kick off the festive season.”
With many more artists still to be announced, Carols will once again be hosted by 7NEWS Adelaide personalities Rosanna Mangiarelli, Will Goodings and Amelia Mulcahy for a national television broadcast that highlights South Australia to the rest of the country.
Family and friends are encouraged to don their best Christmas outfit and come down to Elder Park early to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a free day of entertainment, including the City of Adelaide Pre-Show Concert from 5.00pm. Gates open at 3.00pm and the free concert commences at 8.30pm, culminating in a spectacular fireworks show.
